The worst thing about people who are full of shit is when they become fans of things that you both enjoy and are a much, much greater expert on.

I think I’m in some position of authority to state that most punk rockers don’t know as much as I do about the Alternative Right, or the general umbrella of the new right. And similarly I think it’s safe to say that most people on the Alternative Right have only a cursory knowledge of punk rock.

So, as someone who is a damn near expert on both of these topics – not saying I was ever on the vanguard of either of these movements – I think I’m at least qualified to call bullshit on a recent article published by Playboy magazine.

Nine months after the British establishment got well and truly f**ked up the arse by the British voters, the Brexit baby has finally been born, with Prime Minister Theresa May acting as unwilling midwife.

Yesterday, May finally got round to invoking Article 50, the clause in the Treaty of Lisbon that covers members exiting the EU, which has been compared by some commentators to "The Hotel California"—i.e. you can check in anytime you want but you can never leave, an apt comparison, as music critics believe the song's lyrics refer to being in Hell.

In his book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of the New World Order (1996) Samuel P. Huntington put forward the thesis, popular with large sections of the 'Right,' that the post-Cold-War world would be shaped by its major civilizations and their interactions.

For some it was the gently coded recognition of race that appealed, for others it was the stigmatization of Islam as a rather unpleasant civilization that rang true, so that the book became, for better or worse, a landmark of political science. This makes it an ideal starting point for considering the topic of civilizations in general and the problematic nature of the West in particular.

Western Civilization was a good thing. Starting a thousand years ago, it fell into decline, but, as is the nature of decline, this was not an absolute condition but a gradual one, overlapping some of the greatest moments of Western Civilization. Thus it seemed to be both rising and falling at the same time, but its ultimate direction was toward failure.

Between 1789 and 1968 the West fully collapsed, and all of us born after those times have inherited a vast disaster which we alternately try to save and escape from. This schizophrenic state cannot last; we must choose one, and the sensible answer is to stand and fight, saving what is good and throwing out the rest.

That requires however that we give up false allegiances. Our only allegiance can be to Western Civilization and the genetic stock of Western Europeans that produces it. Everything else is an intermediate, a symbol standing for those great things, and by misdirecting us from the reality to the symbol, these become parasites.

For the victims of the London terrorist attack, it must have felt good to look down from strumming their harps in Heaven to see the good burghers of Brussels holding a commemoration event, partly on their behalf. Twenty years ago, European culture in general, and Dutch culture specifically, was a source of great concern to the minds of many on the American Right. Holland in particular appeared to be a bellwether for a whole host of baleful trends, from secularization to the breakup of the family to full-on sexual permissiveness, which by then had extended to widespread acceptance of nearly every species of human sexual deviancy.

The acceptance of abortion “rights” had gone patently unchallenged for so long that by the late 1990s a child born in the Netherlands could even be terminated outside of the womb in many circumstances; moreover, legally-sanctioned euthanasia of supposed “life unworthy of life” had made a disturbing reappearance in the West for the first time since the surrender of Nazi Germany. Moreover, people all across the continent were starting to get fined or even thrown in jail for expressing politically incorrect opinions under so-called “hate speech” laws.

99 years ago today the most important event of the 20th century took place, the launch of the last great German offensive in World War One. WWII was merely a post-script to what happened on that day.

The Dutch election results are still coming in and the final tally won't be confirmed for several days, but already exit polls are painting a picture of what happened. 

The anti-Islamic Freedom Party, the only party worth supporting in this election, made some gains, going up from 15 seats to a projected 19 seats. This is a disappointing result as the Freedom Party was riding high in opinion polls one week before the election, and was then projected to get 30 seats.

The main cuckservative party, the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy of Prime Minister Mark Rutte is projected to get 31 seats, a loss of 10 seats, but the biggest loser of the night is the Labour Party, traditionally the main Leftist party, which collapsed.

In his latest "Nameless" Podcast, Andy Nowicki discusses a recent incident at Jenifer Lokken's anti-feminist "The Rational Redhead" Facebook page, in which one male reader, when invited to join the page, refused, declaring that "The Rational Redhead" must be a CIA honeytrap to collect intel on Alt-Righters, because Mrs. Lokken is just too pretty to be for real.

"You men need to check your hormones and quit being suckered," he wrote. "If you insist on staying in the group, be careful what you say, for it will be used against you."

THE DEATH OF "RACISM"

From the Financial Times, an intriguing article entitled “White self-interest is not the same thing as racism: Accepting that all groups have legitimate interests fosters mutual understanding”:

"Modern liberals tend to believe that preference for your own ethnic group or even your own nation is a form of racism. Conservatives regard it as common sense and resent being labelled as racist…The question of legitimate ethnic interest is complex. Multiculturalism is premised on the rights of minorities to maintain certain traditions and ways of life. But liberals have usually been reluctant to extend such group rights to majorities…As Eric Kaufmann argues in a new Policy Exchange paper, accepting that all groups, including whites, have legitimate cultural interests is the first step toward mutual understanding."

The barrier wall, constructed of the illusion that racism is the ultimate evil, that any majority self-interest is racism, and that nationalism is unacceptable, has now permanently fractured. The concept of “racism” has died, just as the notion that diversity can work has disintegrated. There is no longer any faith in these ideological concepts.

I must confess to a certain unedifying, if only occasional, habit: poring over the stories of people who got themselves hurt or killed through breathtaking displays of stupidity. Such online rubber-necking is popularly catered for by the Darwin Awards website; but I tend to find more cause for morbid fascination in the antics of a class of people who might be termed 'Doolittles'.

The Doolittle, as the name suggests, is a person who thinks that he or she can make friends with dangerous wild animals. A common pattern is for the Doolittle to experience a long run of luck with this unwise show of affection, which gives rise to an inner conviction of his or her "special connection" with the predatory species of choice, before the fantasy is dispelled in a few violent moments and with a great deal of blood. Unfortunately, what might be a case of individual natural deselection often results in the death or injury of sane bystanders, for Doolittles are hardly shy about dragging other people into their lunacy.

After 12 years in Orania, life seems quite normal and natural and indeed it should be. I guess it is not so different from life in a rural American town. On a typical day, we go to work (most of us work in the city limits of Orania), which takes us about 5 to 10 minutes, by car, on foot, by bicycle or with the local bus. Everybody speaks Afrikaans everywhere. After work, we do our shopping in small shops all over town, where everybody greets everybody and often chats a few words; we visit our neighbours or friends after work, go to the cinema or the restaurant, have a barbecue on Saturday, go to church on Sundays. Children play outside after school, up to dawn, go to the swimming-pool, ride their bicycles, play sport and games.

Hitler's intentions were very clear to anyone who bothered to read Mein Kampf, and the same can be said about Donald Trump and his speeches. The speech he gave a week or so ago to a joint session of Congress was the most high profile and important speech he has given yet, and comes after five weeks of frenetic activity by his administration. It is therefore well worth examining for clues as to what Trump's vision and intentions are.

The clarity of the vision was partly obscured by some distracting PC touches. But, taken in context, with other statements by the President, a fairly coherent picture emerges of what Trump thinks it is possible for him to achieve.

Big media has steadily been pushing the gay agenda for decades, something the public have reluctantly put up with, because it has been in relatively small doses. But now it looks like the TV companies have gone too far, after they rolled out a number of big budget, gay-themed TV shows that flopped disastrously with viewers. 

ABC's "When We Rise," an eight-hour drama miniseries depicting the "struggles" of LGBT activists in the "bad old days" when people actually had moral standards, was blatant in its characterization of gay activists as heroic idealists and the public as low-browed homophobes.

Or does it limp along in some pallid, spectral form like Caesar's ghost, oppressively ever-present even when it has seemingly vanished?

What of cases where love's collapse is expressly and tragically unilateral, expressly violating the consent of the formerly-loved? As Rick Springfield semi-famously observed, "Love hurts when only one's in love." Or as the J. Geils Band more succinctly put it, "Love stinks."
