SHORTPOD (14): ALT-RIGHT YOUTUBE DRAMA FACTORY

Colin Liddell on the latest mutation of the Alt-Right.

In its nearly 8-year span, the Alt-Right has moved through some interesting phases. Starting as a largely intellectual movement, its initial medium was the longish, academic-style essay, often on arcane subject matter.

Next was the period of meming, trolling, and podcasting, typified by the likes of TRS.

In its latest incarnation, the "energy" of the movement is increasingly going into Google Hangout "spats" between various "celebrities" of the Alt-Right, like Millennial Woes, and other wellish-known YouTubers, such as Sargon of Akkad and Styxhexenhammer. Liddell argues that this creates a kind of soap-opera effect, with ready-made characters and intriguing relationships.

  1. Good observation; all obviously, this format, i.e. these youtube-conversations, is where the energy is at the moment.

BTW, a phenomenon of the Free Market, react to demand, and thus something all against Rightist orthodoxy because the ideal Rightist world is "stable": everything is always the same. The Golden Age. Change is liberal and progressive and bad and away from the Golden Age where everything was perfect. Which is of-course why in the Rightist world, there is no Free Speech. For what? Everything is known, so there´s absolutely no need for dissent. Strangely, at this moment, the Right is FOR Free Speech. How does the Right know that it is not now that everything is perfect, and dissent therefore unnecessary? Well the answer is: the Right doesn´t know. They just fantasize something as infallible truth; because they are clever and in the know. And that will then be tyrannically imposed upon everybody: the adorable Authoritarian State. Because they know better what is good for you, oh you better believe it.

Note: Andy Noviki´s recent youtube video about Enoch´s slip, his mother being "friends" with Hillary Clinton: excellent! I fully agree that that is something noteworthy.
I comment here on it as I can´t comment on youtube because it´s connected to my real gmail account, I can therefore also not subscribe to yt-channels and not vote there. This is a serious impediment to Free Speech as it may affect many people, and thus, dissident youtube channels may well be way underrated than they really are.

  2. It's gonna have to be cultural NOT political.
