The Democrats are in a bit of corner. They are heading into 2018 with Trump not only outflanking them on the right, with tax cuts and tough talk about borders, but they are also being outflanked on the left by a strong economy, the repatriation of American jobs and...tough talk about borders, which, if you think about it, is also a left wing position.

In October last year, Pew Research published a wide-ranging report on the changing attitudes of American voter blocs over the last 23 years, and came to the conclusion that the country has never been more polarized. The report states:

The divisions between Republicans and Democrats on fundamental political values – on government, race, immigration, national security, environmental protection and other areas – reached record levels during Barack Obama’s presidency. In Donald Trump’s first year as president, these gaps have grown even larger.

The result from New Hampshire is in, and there are stories for both sides of the political divide. The "Trump Train" or the "Bernie Blitz" – take your pick. Channel 4 News, a UK station with an inevitable Leftist bias, is pushing hard on the Bernie narrative. They featured this comment, as if it summed up some sort of watershed moment in American politics:

"The people of New Hampshire have sent a profound message to the political establishment, to the economic establishment, and by the way to the media establishment."

"Nice story, bro," but what they are perhaps missing is just how vile and unlikable Hillary has always been as a candidate, and the surprising fact that she was ever chosen. The proverbial pile of dog poop could probably have beaten her.
