In October last year, Pew Research published a wide-ranging report on the changing attitudes of American voter blocs over the last 23 years, and came to the conclusion that the country has never been more polarized. The report states:

The divisions between Republicans and Democrats on fundamental political values – on government, race, immigration, national security, environmental protection and other areas – reached record levels during Barack Obama’s presidency. In Donald Trump’s first year as president, these gaps have grown even larger.

According to a series of Pew surveys, Islamophobia is on the rise in Europe:

"Pew’s 2014 Global Attitudes survey, 26 per cent of us have ‘unfavourable’ attitudes towards Muslims in this country; compare that to 46 per cent in Spain, 53 per cent in Greece and 63 per cent in Italy."

The leftist BBC self righteously took pot shots at Greece as Athens was the only major city in all of Europe that refused to permit the construction of a Mosque. It seems that this will no longer be the case as plans for a new Mosque are being discussed.

As I watched the video in the above link I couldn’t help but notice that this hostility to Muslims stems not from religious prejudice, but xenophobia. This brought me back to an excellent point Bay Area Guy had made a while ago about how Muslims had become a legitimate target for pent up anti-immigrant frustration. I suspect this is also the case in Europe. Muslims are bashed especially hard because North American Whites and Europeans are not allowed to bash any other group for fear of being labelled racist.

LIBERALISM AND LOW SELF ESTEEM

In this post I am going to argue that one important reason why many people adopt a liberal political ideology is that it boosts their self esteem by allowing liberals to view themselves as noble warriors in a great battle against evil. There is a good deal of empirical data which is consistent with this theory. But I will also be making use of some evidence which is purely anecdotal. I fully recognize the limitations of such data. But I am still going to talk about it because it adds something meaningful to this theory.

The first question that needs answering is why liberals would need to increase their self-esteem in a way that conservatives do not. The answer is simple: liberals have less self esteem than conservatives to begin with.

If not a hard on, I've got at least a soft spot for Rachel Maddow.

Ever since she picked up on my article Holocaust Amnesia Day, and propelled it to undying international fame sometime last year, I've suspected that our destinies may be conjoined in some dark and intimate way. There is definitely a certain synergy between Ms. Maddow's show and the Alternative Right.

I guess we need repellent Liberals like her on the mainstream media to stampede decent people towards us and break the yellow tape that has been strung around our deeply taboo views; while she and her ilk need us to practice their two main skills of pointing and sputtering. In view of her perfectly legitimate sexual preferences and practices, you could even say that we need each other as much as dykes need dildos.
