WHAT'S WRONG WITH "INCLUSIVENESS"?

One of Britain’s state-owned Fake News outlets, Channel 4, is screening a new “documentary” at 10pm today entitled Angry, White and American. By way of a preview – and, presumably, in order to set our expectations for honest journalism at an appropriately low level – we have been treated to a clip of an angry black man haranguing a perfectly calm and polite white man. With a forbearance that surely evokes the fiery halo of ‘Saint Mandela of Tyre’, Gary Younge manages to verbally spar with Richard Spencer for a few jump-cut-ridden minutes, before furiously storming off in the sudden conviction that his interviewee “is not even worth challenging”.

Every year in London they hold the Notting Hill Carnival. It is intended to be a “celebration” of West Indian/ Caribbean culture, and every year people comment on how much gang violence, mugging, theft, and other crime it generates. It also leads to a lot of degeneracy but that is usually passed over without much comment as no one wants to sound like a prude.

It is a fairly commonplace assertion on the Right that political correctness, which is the closest thing to a moral code in Western progressivism, seeks to make “injustices,” “hatreds,” and “phobias” out of things that were previously considered perfectly normal and natural. We do not need to look far afield for the victims of this tendency: they include ethnic consciousness in Europeans, the polarity of the sexes, and – increasingly – the assumption that the sex of an individual cannot be altered by genital surgery or hormone therapy.

Less well understood is the tendency of political correctness to take up real injustices, pathologies, and hatreds, and redefine them as shining examples of “social justice."
