A few days ago, on April 25th, Italy celebrated a national holiday, La Liberazione d'Italia. This anniversary marks the end of fascism and the Second World War and the liberation from Nazi occupation. Many Italians of the Left rejoice, while many on the Right see it as a “communist holiday.”

Then, your conditioning will have to be continued, the voltage upped, so that, whenever necessary, your leaders and betters will be able to sell you another ugly little war in which the mighty, hollow West can bomb some destabilized little patch of naturally-occurring chaos or tyranny back into tyranny or chaos again.

BOMBING GERMANY, RUSSIA, AND AMERICA IN ONE NIGHT

Among the so-called "war crimes" of World War II, one of the worst is undoubtedly the terror bombing of the German city of Dresden by the Royal Air Force on the night of the 13th and 14th February, 1945.

Much has been said about this horrific event, and many theories, explanations, and even justifications have been given. But in, essence, the attack was more a sign of the decline of Britain and the bitterness that this engendered than anything else.

I couldn’t possibly add anything to Colin’s excellent summation of the Allied atrocity of the firebombing of Dresden, Germany at the tail end of World War II. This premeditatedly murderous attack on innocent and helpless men, women, and children—overwhelmingly civilians who had nothing to do with the German armament effort—was certainly one of the most grievous war crimes ever committed in human history. We hear little about it today, because history is recorded by the victors, and it was the Allies, the eventual winners of the world’s most recent global conflagration—in the specific form of Great Britain’s Royal Air Force—who were responsible for raining down an unrelenting barrage of incendiaries upon a populous city center in eastern Germany on February 13 and 14, 1945, incinerating tens of thousands and maiming thousands more in a planned terror campaign of untrammeled brutality.
