Without being an "Insider" it is difficult to know exactly what is going on in the world of politics and geopolitics today. In fact, you only have two options—either to be a dupe or a crank, namely to believe everything our "highers and betters" tell us or else to be stubbornly suspicious of it. I prefer the latter.

Leftie liberal dim-wits have a standard put down for anyone who disagrees with their take on the world, namely to ascribe a “phobia” to those they disagree with.

Apparently, if you want less immigration, that proves you suffer from “xenophobia” (hatred or fear of foreigners) or worse.

By the same logic, if you don’t want daffodils in your garden, that must prove you suffer from “daffophobia” (OK, I made that word up!) though for some strange reason leftie liberal dim-wits (sometimes known as “leftards” – a cross between the words left and retard) don’t accuse anyone of daffophobia (but maybe now they will!).

On Sunday, Iran launched a long-range missile strike on ISIS forces in Al Mayadin, now believed to be the Islamist group’s new capital. Iran claimed the attack was in retaliation for the ISIS terrorist attacks in Tehran earlier this month, attacks that it also indirectly blames on the U.S.

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but there was a hint of desperation in the tone of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent speech to Congress. It was as if he could sense a chill wind blowing through the Middle East, and see what it portended for his precariously perched state.

To many, the speech may have looked like an act of imperiousness or paranoia, America's "Jewish overlord" accepting the fealty of his AIPAC-trained minions – US Congressmen, no less – while calling for the same kind of American (and allied) overkill that reduced Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan to basket cases.

Call me naïve, but when Iraq fell to the American-led and British-followed invasion of 2003, I thought the simplest solution to the problem posed by this country to the region and itself would also be the one most acceptable to its three main ethnic groups, the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds, namely a messy but cathartic divorce that would allow each of the three groups to achieve separate nationhood and with it internal integrity and security.

Ethnic maps of Iraq revealed that the South and East of the country was and is overwhelmingly Shiite in population, while Sunnis were prevalent in the Centre and West, with the Kurds already semi-independent in the North. Given the centuries of bad blood between these three groups, exacerbated over the last few decades by Saddam's Baathist regime, it seemed a Sisyphean labor to try and force these three distinct groups to live harmoniously together.
