What was a bit remarkable to me was how blindsided MacDonald was by this guy. You'd think that after decades of working on his argument KMD would have anticipated this very obvious counter (i.e. "jews are overrepresented among leftist intellectuals because jews are smart and thrive in all cognitively demanding fields which aren't overtly antisemitic"). Anyway, as the wokeness cult spirals out of control and turns on jews, and as the big intellectual winner of the last 1-2 years turns out to be aspergian mischling Mencius Moldbug, the obsessive judeocentrism of the MacDonald/Spencer/TRS-era alt right is just seeming really obsolete.

ReplyDeleteOne interesting point about the Cofnas Critique of KMac's theory is that it gives Jews like Cofnas an opportunity to boast about how smart their group is. I'm afraid KMac left the door wide open there.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wanted to prove a negative about the Jews (namely that they didn't dominate the Russian Revolution - although over-represented) I limited my empirical input to hard-edged objective inputs -- e.g. Sovnarcom and Politburo membership.

KMac's evidence groups (prominent left-wing intellectuals in the West that he was aware of) lacked this more objective element - leaving them wide open to accusations of subjective bias, and allowing Cofanas to come along and say "What about all these other smart (right-wing) Jews too?"
K-Mac could probably have made some of his points better with voting pattern data and poll data on attitudes to desegregation, immigration, etc.

The main argument in favor of the exitance of Israel is a sentence, a line, a fragment in the Torah (jewish book)...and that God allegedly spoke to Abraham..!! why can "ultra" smart jews believe such fictional claims without evidence. Historically jews fought the inquisition and their main complaint was that the Bible MUST not be yaken literally,because IT is not a historical document, a scientific text. Nevertheless the jews seem utterly convinced that the Bible and its authors(jews) were absolutely right..Eventhought all historical EVIDENCE, archeological, anthopological, genetical proves that Palestinians had lived in their lands long before the JEWS..which were expelled more than 4Kyrs ago...Jews religious claims/books do not even appear in nonjewish sources..either you are a social scientist o you are NOT.

Delete"Trite and weak" ... do you really want a deeper response, about say, how Cofnas ignores the unconscious systemic process of Jewish group evolutionary process, which only ostensibly seem to be at odds, but in fact may working inter-generationally? ..and rather to subvert out group solidarity when they out-marry (their own lineage being traced primarily through female lineage anway).

Briefly said, over European peoples, Jewry exercises disproportionate power and influence, from their biology and from 7-10 power niches. ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me that this subject is the one that generates all the comments. I guess I just see both sides of it so acutely that neither one can agitate me or impress me all that much.
ReplyDeleteIn my grandparents' day, Jews were an out-group and WASPs were the elite. That was just the way it was. Along with Catholics, Jews were afforded enormous opportunity in America, but it was a time when communities were distinct and people were expected to have a deeper bond with their own kind. As a result, my grandparents were lifelong Democrats, because Jews were Democrats. That's just the way it was.
I once had an experience that underscored what it was like for my father and grandfather in the 1950s. Keep in mind that I'm not bemoaning anything, I'm just making an anthropological observation. What happened was, I applied for a small scholarship from a charitable trust administered by a committee of extremely elderly Presbyterian society ladies. I submitted an essay, and when I went to be interviewed, these women were all extremely pleased to meet me, because they all knew and respected my grandmother. But the way the interview went, it became clear to me that this scholarship was intended for the less fortunate, and the Jews were not considered less fortunate. From the perspective of 80+ year old WASP women, even in the 2000s, Jews were expected to get help from the Jews. A Ukrainian immigrant computer science student was selected for the scholarship instead. When you stop to consider who the objects of WASP largesse are today, such an outcome appears quaint and entirely healthy by comparison.
Over the course of the 60s and 70s, our town changed radically, and not for the better. As a result, my grandparents and many of the Jews of their generation in the town became part of an old-guard and a generational divide that implicitly favored white power. The presumption of voting Democrat started to change. Relations with the WASP old guard began to be viewed through a nostalgic lens. In retrospect it became even more apparent that many in that cohort were extraordinary friends.
Then apartheid South Africa fell. It was uncharacteristic of my grandmother to comment about politics at all, but she had cousins in SA, and one day in front of the TV news she remarked, completely out of the blue, that the blacks had ruined South Africa. A pallor came over her as if she'd just received news of the death of a loved one. Having been raised on a liberal primary school curriculum at a time when MLK was regarded as a national hero in America, this comment from my grandmother was not just shocking. It was absolutely alien and surreal.
But it was the truth.
History is cyclical. Life is cyclical. Relationships change and so do people's interests. Though ultimately I'm not an adherent of KMac's theory, he damn sure didn't pull it out of his ass. But I think that reason, and not just biology, will always have the final say.
