I have no intention of wading into the recent doxxing scandal on the Alt-Right, which is an embarrassment to our movement. However, it has not escaped my notice that one of the catalysts for this appears to have been a longstanding toxic issue in European nationalism, namely the question of “alliances” with other races. What I say here should not be interpreted as an attempt to take sides in the ongoing dispute; I have merely wanted to lay the alliance issue in its coffin for some time, and circumstances have provided me with a useful context in which to do so.

REVIEW: RADIX II
There has been a long gap between the first copy of Radix Journal and the second one, which has recently appeared in print a good three years later. Compared to its predecessor, which clocked in at 300 pages, concentrated on the possibly overambitious theme of the "deconstruction of White European identity," and even sent Andy Nowicki on an all-expenses-paid trip to report on the "Rainbow Nation" of South Africa, Radix II—The Great Purge: The Deformation of the Conservative Movement has a narrower focus — namely the history of the American Conservative movement — as well as a lower page count (206 pages). This might seem like a case of the journal’s publisher and editor, Richard Spencer, drawing in his horns.
WHAT WILL THE FUTURE BE LIKE?
One way to predict the future is to think of a future one desires, and to think of ways that future will be achieved. The most famous example of this can be seen in the writings of Karl Marx. Marx was disturbed by the effects the industrial revolution was having on the lives of the factory workers who made the industrial revolution possible. He managed to convince himself and his followers that in the economic and social chaos of laissez faire capitalism were macroeconomic tendencies that would lead to the creation of an economy and a society without war, poverty, or crime, where everyone would like his or her job.
There would not even be jobs in the traditional sense. In The German Ideology, chapter three, Karl Marx wrote, “In a communist society there are no painters but only people who engage in painting among other activities.”
Before we sneer at Marx we should acknowledge that the economic system that inspired his writings had serious injustices. Millions of men, women, and even children worked twelve hours a day six days a week in dangerous factories and mines for subsistence incomes.

IT MIGHT, BUT...
As is often the case with my writing, this will start with John Derbyshire. He introduced me to the concept of writing a column "just so you can forever after refer people to it. ‘Oh, that subject/ point/ complaint/ theory/ argument? I tackled/ countered/ responded to/ exploded/ demolished that back in July '11—here’s the link." Although it is not even close to the summer of 2011, this piece will serve the exact same function as The Derb described.
Is it all going to end?
Will the "hate bubble" burst? Will American military hegemony finally collapse/ disintegrate because of something happening somewhere? Or maybe monetizing the debt over and over again coupled with an overblown welfare state will be what causes a collapse of America. Perhaps the flood of non-White immigration – combined with the low birthrate of Whites and the general dysgenic state of the US – will do it. There are of course environmental concerns as well: global warming, peak oil, all that stuff. And of course the outside chance of nuclear war, perhaps brought about by a well-timed terrorist attack.

TWO YEARS LATER
Who would have ever guessed that John Derbyshire, a mild mannered Brit with a Chinese wife, and two kids by her, would become the face of white supremacy in the eyes of the left? Well, so it goes, and today marks the two-year anniversary of Mr. Derbyshire’s expulsion from the ranks of National Review, and polite society as a whole. Although it is seductive to commemorate this by providing a list of other thoughtcrime martyrs who have sprung up in the last twenty-four months, I propose something a bit more productive. Let us consider what has improved since “The Derb” so unjustly received his two minutes of hate two years ago, after all, our mothers were right when they told us, “God opens a window every time he shuts a door.”
NICELY DEFENDING THE NASTY AND INDEFENSIBLE

I would be surprised if there was a single AltRight reader that was not familiar with the sordid tale. After writing the now infamous The Talk: Nonblack Version for Taki’s Magazine. John “The Derb” Derbyshire was summarily fired from The National Review. Shortly thereafter Peter Brimelow hired him full-time at Vdare and he has now become a bit of a celebrity among we who dare speak of race. Last April, to mark the one-year anniversary of said brouhaha, Vdare released a collection of The Derb’s writings and talks.

A DOMESTIC ARCTIC ALLIANCE
John Derbyshire's "Arctic Alliance" proposal came out over half a decade ago. If you have not read it, stop reading this and read it instead. For such a fascinating idea it has been written about far too little; I suppose it touches on a few too many taboos. It seems no thinker aside from Derbyshire has written on it. Even Derbyshire himself rarely revisits the theory; last December was an exception when he wrote, "Preserving the Arctic Alliance." He makes passing mentions of it on occasion in his other articles and radio program, and I have found some chattering about it on internet message boards. Beyond that, there doesn't seem to be a thing. I am here to change that, and to explore the Arctic Alliance's practical potential, which Derbyshire has woefully ignored.
THE ACCEPTABLE ENEMY
When living in China a European cannot fail to be struck by the country’s intense nationalism; especially as it contrasts so sharply with the mixture of fear, disdain, and indifference towards national sentiment that prevails in the modern West.
When a drunken Western tourist was caught on video attempting to assault a Chinese woman in Beijing, the result was uproar on the Chinese internet and a crackdown on foreign residents by the government; contrast this with the reaction of the British establishment to the actual rapes of English girls by Pakistani gangs, which was mainly concerned with not appearing “racist” to the compatriots of the offenders! A long list of similar contrasts could be made for almost every aspect of national life, and it would make for depressing reading indeed.
THE ASYMMETRY OF AMERICA
During Easter Christians like to remember the crucifixion of an innocent man for his words, so it was entirely appropriate that John Derbyshire was sacked at this time from the National Review for innocently writing an article for another magazine that intruded on America's central taboo of race. But there was more to it than that. This case also helps to reveal some of the "uncomfortable truths" (notice how these two words increasingly go together) about America and the decline of the national discourse once represented by the likes of the National Review.
This wasn’t the first time Derbyshire had expressed "politically incorrect" views on race. In the past he has even admitted to being a "tolerant racist," so one has to wonder about the timing of his dismissal. Perhaps it was because his latest article came too close to the canonization of America's latest saint, Saint Trayvon of Sanford, the patron saint of Skittles, or perhaps it was the fact that Derbyshire's face was an increasingly bad fit among the growing ranks of wet-behind-the-ears, multicultural, Israel-loving Neo-Cons who have now 'occupied' the National Review.
