THE PEAT PARTY

A (re)peat offender?

Back in the day, people were more alert and attentive to what was going on around them. They were not obsessed by detail, but trusted themselves because of their intuitive connection to their world, and so when they noticed a general change in the “shape” of events, they knew it was time to act.

The boys would break into the mead early one afternoon and talk it over. There would be some low, quiet voices from the elders, and louder voices from the young. Eventually, they would identify nodal points where things were going wrong. These points were people.

PODCAST 25: LEE KUAN YEW R.I.P.

Colin is joined by Alternative Right's Philippines-based contributor Siryako Akda to discuss the life and legacy of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, who recently passed away at the age of 91. Among the topics discussed are the Hakka Chinese, Singapore's attempts at eugenics, the thalassocratic nature of South East Asia, and the influence of Fascism and confucianism on Lee's political outlook.

INTERSTELLAR: PROMETHEUS UNBOUND

The good news is that Interstellar – the latest film by Hollywood wunderkind Christopher Nolan – is an intelligent science fiction film in the 70’s meta-cinema mold. It asks big, eugenic, and vaguely fascistic questions about humanity’s future, and posits big answers, too, in a way that is refreshingly daring and original for a mainstream film made in this day and age.

HYPER-RACISM

While I generally seeks to spread dismay whenever the opportunity arises, I cannot pretend to a huge obsession with what might be described as ordinary racism. When perusing the thought-crimes of the mainstream racist community, it is continually afflicted by a sense of overwhelming unreality. This is not (of course), because races do not exist, or do not differ significantly, or … whatever. The most politically incorrect cognitive position on almost every point of this kind is reliably closer to reality than its more socially-convenient and comforting alternatives.

The problem with ordinary racism is its utter incomprehension of the near future. Not only will capabilities for genomic manipulation dissolve biological identity into techno-commercial processes of yet-incomprehensible radicality, but also … other things.

NEITHER PROGRESSIVE NOR CONSERVATIVE: THE ANTI-MODERNISM OF G.K. CHESTERTON

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874-1936) bears the distinction of being a writer who resisted virtually all of the dominant trends of his era. He lived during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, precisely the time that modernity was fully consolidating itself within Western civilization more than a century after the apex of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution. Chesterton began his writing career as a young man and as the twentieth century was just beginning. As much as any other writer from his era, he predicted the horrors that century would entail.

CHINA ENGINEERING GENIUS BABIES

While scientific work in the West continues to be constrained by the dogma of human equality and therefore focuses predominantly on relatively expensive surgical and medicinal therapies to retrospectively improve the condition of individual humans, the Chinese, free from such dogmatic constraints are employing state-of-the-art-gene sequencing technologies as part of a state sponsored eugenics programme aimed at achieving significant advances in the quality of their future generations.

BGI Shenzhen, known as the Beijing Genomics Institute prior to 2008, is one of the world’s premier genome sequencing centres and was created in 1999.
