DOING THE RIGHT THING: AN INTERVIEW WITH COLIN LIDDELL
In the Summer of 2014, Colin Liddell, Chief Editor of Alternative Right was interviewed by Manticore Press, who produce the excellent journal Aristokratia. The interview covered a variety of topics, including the Alt Right, paganism, the essence of aristocracy, and much else.
**************
Manticore: You have had a prolific and long writing career encompassing many different projects. When did you start writing, and what are some of the topics you have worked on over the years?
Liddell: I started writing as a teenager, when I was drawn to poetry, as many are. I liked the intensity of the medium and also the fact that it was economical with paper. I have also done a few short stories and have even attempted longer forms, but I have had no interest in the marketing side, so I let that wither and die; although I keep thinking, if Andy Nowicki can do it, so can I. Yes, he’s a real inspiration!
My first properly published material was for Riff Raff, a London-based rock magazine that existed from 1989 to around 1995, which was founded by Mark Crampton, initially a friend of my brother. My first piece for them was a live review of the Rolling Stones. Since then I have branched out to cover almost anything – economics, politics, art, philosophy, speculative science, you name it. Over the years I have been quoted by a number of eminent people, from Jack Donovan to Bono.

Seeing as Halloween (Sam Hain, Winter Nights, call it what you will) is upon us, I feel that it is the perfect time to review a book that has been a standard[1] of the Craft since its original publication in 1921. There are — honestly — dozens of reprints of The Witch Cult in Western Europe out there. The book has long since passed into public domain, every real publisher, every indie publisher and every would-be publisher can legally and freely reprint and distribute it, and in these days of Amazon.com and CreateSpace, everyone seems to be doing just that.
So, should you, the reader, be interested in any one particular modern publisher’s particular reprint of this classic tome of Witchcraft? Yes, you should.
MALI PRINCIPII MALUS FINIS
"An angel came to me and said: ‘O pitiable foolish young man! O horrible! O dreadful state! Consider the hot burning dungeon thou art preparing for thyself to all eternity, to which thou are going in such career’ I said: ‘perhaps you will be willing to shew me my eternal lot & we will contemplate together upon it and see whether your lot or mine is most desirable"We—as a people—have no spiritual identity. Not that pan-Europeans lack spiritual impulse, or spiritual distinctions—we have all that, from New Age to Calvinism—what we lack is an identity of ourselves as a cohesive group of mutually respecting believers: a spiritual identity that encloses all of us as members of our Folk. And it has been to our detriment—it took a long time coming, granted—but we now face a withered future. Shriveled in spirit, shriveled in self-respect, shriveled in unity. We are decaying, spiritually, and have been doing so for a long time (almost 2000 years)—what’s more, it is just getting faster and faster—take the last 60 years as a mere foretaste of what’s coming.

THE MEANING OF JANUARY
by Dan Rayner
As Christianity fades and dies, and people reject the false dichotomy of Semitic atheistic Socialism and Semitic Christian Socialism, Asatru alone stands in a prime position to inspire our folk to a defense of our ethnic interests against their present defilement. Representing the entire ancient ancestral collection of wisdom, spiritual archetypes, and folklore, which our folk have been deprived of for so long, it is the only spiritual and political worldview that is capable of inspiring and redeeming our folk.
An important part of this tradition and one that it is easy for us to connect to are the names that our ancestors assigned to the months and days. We must not let any month or day pass without knowing the true meanings ascribed to them by our Germanic ancestors.
NIETZSCHE THE VISIONARY
To celebrate the birthday of Friedrich Nietzsche, we are republishing Keith Preston's classic speculation on what a Nietzschean world would look like.
Friedrich Nietzsche suggested in the nineteenth century that the crisis of Western civilization generated by modernity’s overthrow of the traditional European order and the loss of faith resulting from the torpedoing of traditional theology by advancements in human knowledge would have repercussions that would endure for two centuries.
With the twenty-first century now in its second decade, the confrontation with that crisis becomes ever more imminent.[1] At present, Western civilization continues to exhibit symptoms of advanced decay and the five hundred year position of Western Europe and its colonial offspring as the dominant centers of power on the earthly stage is steadily being eclipsed by the rise of new great powers represented by such nations as Russia, China, India, and Brazil.
Likewise, mass immigration from the Third World into the West threatens to erode the demographic majority of indigenous European peoples in their traditional homelands by the middle to latter part of the century. The egalitarian ethos that provides the foundation of the self-legitimating ideology of the Western ruling classes becomes ever more absurd in its pronouncements and oppressive in its practices with each passing decade.
FAITH: UNITY IN DIVERSITY
For those of us on the alternative or far right, there is a divisive hurdle we must address soberly: the crisis of faith.
It must be examined from all perspectives, in a broad-minded way that can be applied functionally, absorbing as many different groups and opinions as possible, while creating a broad acceptance for any ideology that is ethnically fortifying.
To begin with, we must own that the religion issue is a three part question.
MERCURY RISING: THE LIFE & WRITINGS OF JULIUS EVOLA
The Life & Writings of Julius Evola
The Life & Writings of Julius Evola
If the industrious man, through taking action,
Does not succeed, he should not be blamed for that –
He still perceives the truth.
~The Sauptikaparvan of the Mahābhārata (2,16)
If we could select a single aspect by which to define Julius Evola, it would have been his desire to transcend the ordinary and the world of the profane. It was characterized by a thirst for the Absolute, which the Germans call mehr als leben – “more than living.” This idea of transcending worldly existence colours not only his ideas and philosophy, it is also evident throughout his life which reads like a litany of successes. During the earlier years Evola excelled at whatever he chose to apply himself to: his talents were evident in the field of literature, for which he would be best remembered, and also in the arts and occult circles.
A TIME FOR WOLVES
The Wolves of Vinland are Building a Tribe Outside the System
"Brothers will battle to bloody end, and sisters’ sons their sib betray;
woe’s in the world, much wantonness;
axe-age, sword-age—sundered are shields—wind-age, wolf-age, ere the world crumbled;
will the spear of no man spare the other.
~ “Völuspá”
Grimnir moved barefoot through the dirt at Ulfheim like he didn’t know he wasn’t wearing cowboy boots.
He rolled his shoulders, shook out his neck, and called out to Frejulf. This would be Grimnir’s third match of the day, and it wouldn’t be his last.
Frejulf seemed chipper for a kid who knew was about to get his face fucked up. He was a junior patch member of the Wolves, and this was going to be a disciplinary beatdown. Grimnir, leader of the Lynchburg chapter, had promised that if Frejulf didn’t get some extracurricular mixed martial arts training within a few months, he would show him why he needed it. Frejulf knew his time was up.
THE HOMO AND THE NEGRO: AN INTERVIEW WITH JAMES O'MEARA
The Homo and the Negro, a provocatively-titled collection of essays recently published by Counter-Currents, reveals one of the more interestingly idiosyncratic, and thus far largely unsung, writers of the far right.
James J. O’Meara has called his own writing style “psychedelic,” and while I don’t know if this is meant to imply the actual influence of LSD in this Detroit-born, Canadian-educated baby boomer’s life, one can indeed sense quite a bit more of a Phillip K. Dick-vibe in his work than anything Evolian or Spenglerian. But maybe that’s just a roundabout way of saying that, while O’Meara has a profound interest in matters of intellectual substance, his writing is at the same time entertaining to read, and not in any way stuffy or stultifyingly academic-sounding.

BEYOND PRUDERY AND PERVERSION
Of the various manifestations of the egalitarian cultural revolution that has transpired in the Western world over the past half century, none have been quite so enduring or become so deeply rooted in the culture of modern society as the so-called “sexual revolution.” Indeed, it might well be argued that even the supposed commitment of Western cultural elites in the early twenty-first century to the ethos of racial egalitarianism is not quite as profound as their commitment to the preservation and expansion of the victories of the sexual revolution. The sexual revolution itself brings with it many of its own manifestations. These include the now prevailing feminist ethos, the liberalization of both popular opinion and public legislation concerning sexual conduct, abortion and contraception, divorce, the normalization of homosexuality accompanied by the growth of powerful homosexual political interest groups, and the identification of an ever-growing list of “gender identity” or “sexual orientation” groups who are subsequently assigned their position in the Left’s pantheon of the oppressed.
