REAL RUSSIA VS. THE KREMLIN STATE: INTERVIEW WITH OLENA SEMENYAKA

In the war currently underway in Eastern Ukraine, between Ukrainian nationalists and Russian separatists, the latter are winning one of the most important battles, the battle of information.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the separatists have used the internet extensively to gather support from all around the world and to present their side of the story. However, the Ukrainian nationalists have seldom been heard, and their motives are often presented through the deforming lenses of Western or pro-Russian media. To correct this distortion, here is a long overdue presentation of the Ukrainians’ position.

In an uncensored and unfiltered interview, Olena Semenyaka, the coordinator of the Azov Reconquista project and a member of the Press Service of the Azov Regiment, gives us an overview of how things look from a Ukrainian nationalist perspective. The Azov Regiment is an international regiment recognized by the Ukrainian government that has been active since April 2014.

Taking a double-barreled approach

What seems to be happening now in the Ukraine is one of the worst outcomes possible. Russia seems poised to take very risky action merely to maintain its dignity and status as a great power. This situation has come about frankly because Putin misread the situation and ended up investing his political capital in Yanukovych, who turned out to be the worst type of corrupt oligarch.

Perhaps it was impossible to find a virgin in the whorehouse of Ukrainian politics, which ties Nigeria for corruption, but perhaps something more could have been done.

The other mistake was alienating the ultra-nationalist and traditionalist forces in the Ukraine, as these provided the revolution with its spearhead. With them on his side, or at least neutral, Yanukovych would still be installing his gold toilets and diamond chandeliers in his latest palace.

TRADITIONALISM IN ONE COUNTRY?

It's a real joke knowing a lot of history. Everything that happens seems like a massively bad pun on something else that happened years ago, and, when that happens, you can't help groaning as you laugh – or vice versa.

Take the situation in Russia. There, in recent years, we have witnessed encouraging signs of traditionalist revival, such as the rise of the Russian Orthodox Church and the assertion of traditionalist values. This has included a clamp down on the rainbow-coloured tsunami of homosexualism that has defiled our planet in recent years, and a rise in family values that has seen the birth rate rise to a level that might one day make Russia less dependent on the hordes of non-White immigrants who have flooded into the country. To top it all the Russians have even brought back the Cossacks with whips to refight the 'Battle of Balaclava'! If this keeps going, it may be only a matter of time before the Tsar is brought back.

Prof. Dugin, the Western mainstream media and established politicians describe the recent situation in Ukraine as a conflict between pro-European, democratic and liberal oppositional alliance on the one side and an authoritarian regime with a dictator as president on the other side. Do you agree?

Dugin: I know those stories and I consider this type of analysis totally wrong. We cannot divide the world today in the Cold War style. There is no "democratic world" which stands against an "antidemocratic world," as many Western media report.
