Reflecting on our current situation, one cannot help but think back to the Cold War, when what beat the Soviets was as much McDonald’s, blue jeans, and grocery stores full of plenty. Their system did not work; ours did, at least during that period. Somehow however we ended up, just a few decades later, in the same place they did.

COLD, ICE COLD

Philosopher Nick Land talks about the transition that the West is currently experiencing as a shift from being nice to being more realistic. “Nice” is like bourgeois values: offend no one, befriend everyone, and always gesture vividly toward your acceptance of all people, behaviors and ideas.

Naturally, this niceness is fatal to any group because it opposes the idea of standards, as well as the basic notion of finding some things to be true and others not and therefore unacceptable as answers to certain questions. To be nice, one must believe that all people are basically the same and thus are “universal,” or uniformly good for the most part.

The problem with nice is that it is a form of competition. If your neighbors are nicer than you, you are seen as a less desirable business partner, mate, customer, friend, coworker, and seller. When one person on the block goes down the path of nice, the others must “keep up with the Joneses” and virtue signal their niceness as well.

Many of those of a contemporary “alternative Right” orientation blame Christianity for bequeathing the dogma of egalitarianism to the modern world. Such people claim that the attempted abolition of natural hierarchies and the destructively “leveling” momentum of democracy and campaigns of enforced “equality” derive from the Christian doctrine that all human souls are equal before God, a notion which finds its most famous formulation in the words of St. Paul from his New Testament epistle to the Galatians: “In Christ, there is neither slave nor free, Gentile nor Jew, male nor female.”

I have written elsewhere on this subject; here it will suffice to observe that in the two millennia since Jesus Christ walked the earth, social, gender, and racial hierarchies have, prior to the cultural revolutions of the last few decades, generally remained untouched.

William Shakespeare, Christendom’s greatest playwright, lived at a time of great intellectual ferment and cultural tumult, yet even in his time both Protestant and Catholic alike affirmed the prudence of continued social stratification. If all men were equal before God, this in no sense mandated any presumption of equality of title or status between individuals, cultures, races, or sexes. If the serious Christian of the Reformation era took seriously Paul’s declaration regarding the absence of distinctions between different groups of humanity, he also acknowledged the divine origin of Biblical passages commanding slaves to obey their masters and instructing wives to be subservient to their husbands.

For the political Left, there is no value that is more important than “universal human equality.” To be against equality is to be reactionary, regressive, benighted, bigoted, unenlightened, unseemly, and anti-human. And while previous generations of leftists were concerned primarily with legal equality, and then economic equality, today’s leftists demand equality in every sphere of human activity. Every profession must have an exact proportion of males and females (“gender parity”). Every institution must have an equitable proportion of ethnic groups. Any statistical disparity among races, genders, ages, sexual orientations, or classes is thought to be the result of mere oppression, exploitation or greed on the part of those who seem to have a leg up in life. Hence, the popularity of “privilege theory” among fashionable social justice warriors who equate the fact of having been born straight, white, male, “cisgendered” or some combination of these to be the equivalent of original sin.

THE ERASURE OF EQUALITY?

We live in the Age of Equality, but few grasp its essence. It is the yearning – after eons of organization and evolution – of all life to return again to the amoeba and sludge stage, and for all atoms to shed their electrons and become simple hydrogen again, lost in the vastness of space. It resonates in the most pervasive form of our contemporary culture: PORNOGRAPHY, which washes through the self-inflicted and therefore Faustian media of the internet as an orgy of equality: orifices and appendages – Black, White, Asian, "other," gay, and straight, male and female (and all the other genders rendered meaningless by the act)  – pressed together in one unholy communion; no borders or constraints: the cunt equated with the womb, the asshole with the oral orifice, the tongue with the penis, etc., etc., in infinitum, et ultra in a great unending Black Mass of inversion, perversion, and equality.

WHITE NATIONALISM FAILS BECAUSE IT INCORPORATES TOO MUCH LIBERALISM

If you grew up after 1789, when the French Revolution formalized liberalism as the Western doctrine, you have grown up indoctrinated in Leftist propaganda. Any idea with its root in egalitarianism, or the equality of all people, is leftist.

This includes democracy, freedom, equality, diversity, pluralism, consumerism and… White Nationalism. While Nationalism itself is an idea as old as time, namely that the ethnic tribe constitutes the nation, White Nationalism is, like National Socialism, a modern creation. In other words: a liberal version of an ancient conservative idea.

“Equality” is one of the hoariest cliches and most pernicious slogans of modern times. Said to derive from a supposedly common-sense notion of fairness, the mad clamor underway to equalize the human race in fact has no basis whatsoever in justice or reality, human or otherwise. 

Indeed, the idea of equality is almost inevitably deeply debasing to a culture; pushing for greater “equality” does nothing to make the dumb smart, the ugly beautiful, or the poor rich; instead, it only makes nearly everything—be it fashion, the arts, language, commerce, or general human interaction— duller, less pleasant, less orderly, less desirable, and infinitely more tacky, tawdry, and loathsome. 

More crucially, the ramming of equality down our collective gullet requires the construction of a hateful bureaucracy to monitor, control, and altogether enslave the very people it supposedly wishes to uplift and empower. The imposition of equality, that is, requires the self-appointment of a vanguard elite who arrogate to themselves the task of being the equalizers. Thus the attempt to construct a society of “equals” invariably leads to perpetual exercise of tyranny.

The Classical Liberal – as opposed to the contemporary statist-favoring one – was, deep within, a saintly creature. The same can be said for his current heir, the Libertarian. The quest for equal rights embodied in both arises from a search for a compromise between equality and freedom, in short, a carefully crafted synthesis between the two. For the Classical Liberal and the Libertarian, liberty is sacred, but it has to be bestowed on everyone in order to avoid absolutism or unfair domination from the State.

But, of course, a major flaw in all this, is that any remaining difference can be conceptualized as an inequality, so equality has to be stopped somewhere. Rights shall be equal, but individuals' property and social status shall remain beyond the pale of state intervention – as much as possible. Every citizen shall be a right-bearer, but his rights shall not intrude on other people's rights, nor shall he be forced to do anything for them beyond minimal social intercourse. As libertarians say, “we want to take over the world, and then leave you alone.”

The question has often been asked, what is the animating principle of different forms of government, for each, it is assumed, has its own principle. In other words, what is the general idea which inspires each political system?

Montesquieu, for instance, proved that the principle of monarchy is honour, the principle of despotism fear, the principle of a republic virtue or patriotism, and he added with much justice that governments decline and fall as often by carrying their principle to excess, as by neglecting it altogether.

And this, though a paradox, is true. At first sight it may not be obvious how a despotism can fall by inspiring too much fear, or a constitutional monarchy by developing too highly the sentiment of honour, or a republic by having too much virtue. It is nevertheless true.

The manosphere (referring to the loosely-affiliated ecosystem of small web publishers writing for men and running discussion forums) as a market phenomenon exists owing to censorship in the professional press, where anyone who deviates from the leftist party line winds up ostracized and unable to be published steadily, apart from a few exceptions here and there.

Christopher Hitchens, for example, was able to publish articles about why women aren’t funny in magazines like Vanity Fair, but probably only because he had spent decades contributing to magazines like The Nation and acting as the standard-bearer for atheism. The original piece is apparently no longer even hosted on the Vanity Fair website, although there are countless rebuttals to it.

The Guardian has just published a long, rambling article by the man of the moment, the Greek Finance Minister, Yanis Varoufakis, entitled "How I became an erratic Marxist."

The article, which is adapted from a lecture originally delivered at the 6th Subversive Festival in Zagreb in 2013, shows the confused, ambivalent, blind, and downright dishonest tendencies of the modern Left. It also gives a good insight into how the Left in Greece and other countries will seek to deal with the developing economic crisis.

EQUALITY, EQUALITY EVERYWHERE, BUT NOT A DROP TO DRINK

Recently I ventured on foot across the ominously named "Rainbow Bridge," which spans Tokyo Bay, to visit the artificially created land of Odaiba. When Tokyo holds the Olympics in 2020, this is the area that will host the athletes' village as well as many of the other facilities and venues.

I say ominously-named, because "rainbow," rather than pleasant associations of sunshine after rain or pots of gold left by leprechauns, now has more disturbing ideological connotations; whether it is the "Rainbow Nation" of South Africa, with its genocidal tendencies, or the rainbow flag used to promote the deconstruction of gender roles in the West and the promotion of mass, multi-partner buggery.

But while Japan keeps a tight watch on its borders – at least for now – the nation and its culture occasionally pay lip service to the globalized Western (ab)norms now symbolized by the borderless gradations of the chromatic spectrum.

CHILD ABUSE AS A “NEW DIVISIONIST” TACTIC OF WESTERN ELITES

You’ll have seen the now ubiquitous F-Bombs for Feminism video that has predictably gone viral – yawn! – and is now quickly swishing its way round the amnesia U-bend of the great internet toilet.

It was designed to get a lot of attention by triggering people and of course it has. Congrats to whichever low-rent genius conceived it (probably a guy BTW).

The central message is the usual feminist bundle of crap that women should be paid more than they deserve (the unequal pay thing is a myth) and be allowed to behave any way they want (i.e. dress like tramps and go out and get stoned and pissed) and still have the most feral elements of the male population respect them. This last point may be more of a race issue than a gender issue, but don’t go there.

THE KING'S TRUE CHAMPION

Egalitarianism, the scourge against which the modern West seems to have few defences, had its origins in the ancient world, whose people understood it and coped with its dangers and shortcoming a lot better than we did. Like some dormant virus, it lay hidden throughout most of the Middle Ages, to awaken round about the 17th century.

A major reason for its success, after it awoke from its lengthy slumber, was that it managed to infect not only its proponents but also most of its opponents, who were tricked into accepting many of its premises. This includes even the likes of Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), the philosopher most readily identified with the defence of monarchy and hierarchy in the early modern period.

But one man who wasn’t tricked by egalitarianism on any level was the English political theorist Sir Robert Filmer, who was born in the same year as Hobbes, the famous year of the Spanish Armada, and who died in 1653, in the midst of the English Republic (1649-1660) that was created by the overthrow and execution of the King.

DEMOCRACY REVEALS ITS END RESULT: A WEEPY MOB LOOTING IN ANGER

Like many major events, the riots in Ferguson MO have roots in a thoroughly messy human situation. Drunk on victimhood, weeping with self-pity, and yet willing to blame others and so lash out in rage, the protesters first complained and then accelerated to full retribution: steal – ruin – destroy.

99% of media and commentators will use this incident to find a scapegoat. They will blame the police, or the militarization of the police, or blame the cop who shot Michael Brown, or blame Michael Brown, or blame African-Americans.

WHITE SELF LOATHING AND ITS DISCONTENTS

The White race, despite its many achievements and admirable qualities, is paradoxically the race most prone to self-loathing or intraracial (as opposed to interracial) hatred. This characteristic, in its many forms, from outright racial self-loathing and idealization of "the Other" to racial apathy, is also at the heart of the decline of Whites in the modern world.

Some see White self-loathing as a sinister cultural imposition, as if a people could be brainwashed into despising itself by its own cultural preferences. Such a thesis is problematic for in the present age we only consume the culture that appeals to us. It is therefore far more likely that the White race has a deep-rooted and inherent tendency towards intraracial loathing that is part of its very nature.

But what could be the basis of such a dangerous and self-destructive characteristic?

SCIENCE DEFEATS LIBERALISM

"If a fool would persist in his folly, he would become wise," wrote William Blake in his Proverbs of Hell.

This proverb is widely misinterpreted as meaning that we can make a wise man out of a fool. That is not so; what it means is that a fool who tries new versions of the same foolish thing will eventually discover the truth of the thing he's undertaking. It's another way of saying we learn by error.

In 1789, with the French Revolution, the West formalized its enlightenment ideal: the human form comes before nature and God, and is the ultimate ideal.

THE FANATICISM OF LIBERALS

I never wanted to be a conservative growing up. Conservatives always lose. They're the ones stumbling around, unable to organize themselves, while liberals sweep in with a single-mindedness that overwhelms the opposition.

As life went on, I came to distrust single-mindedness. It's a condition not unlike being an insect. One is made inherently fanatical by single-mindedness, and oblivious to nuance, depth and aesthetics. There is simply the goal. The body, soul, life itself, nature, etc. all become means to an end.

Our biased, Earth-centric media tends to portray the asteroids as the danger, when it is obvious that it is the other way round.
