Today (April 29th) is Showa Day here in Japan. This is a national holiday, held in honour of the Emperor Hirohito. Showa is his death name and the name of the period defined by his reign (1926-89), a period when Japan made two distinct grabs at world domination and came reasonably close in both cases, before the constrictions of being a relatively small island nation kicked in.

Adolf Hitler, far from being an "extreme radical," as he is often portrayed, quite frequently sided with Conservative and establishment elements at key points in his career. This goes back to his sidelining of the more radical Strasser faction in the National Socialist Party in 1930, as well as his famous Night of the Long Knives purge in 1934, when he reined in the power of the Brownshirts and other populist elements in his party, in order to win the favour of the German ruling elites. 

Another example of Hitler's inherent conservatism was the position he took during the revolt launched by the Romanian Iron Guard on this day -- January 21st -- in 1941, when the German Fuhrer sided with the relatively "moderate" Romanian dictator Ion Antonescu.

The recent debate between Vox Day and Andrew Anglin (now deleted by those anti-free-speech bigots YouTube) was an odd sort of mismatch. I don’t mean that in the sense that one of the parties was far superior to the other. In fact there was a rough equality — while Vox was clearly smarter and better educated, Anglin had more cunning. No, the mismatch I am referring to was that between two creatures that inhabit different realms and can’t really get to grips with each other in any meaningful way. On social media, I likened it to a battle between a gadfly and a tadpole.

When I first became aware of the various online outlets of the manosphere four years ago, I was struck by an inexplicable rhetorical contradiction frequently on display.

For a group ostensibly dedicated to combating the ills of cultural misandry (that is, the nearly ubiquitously socially enforced, gynocentrically-inspired loathing of all aspects of traditional masculinity), there was an underlying implication to the effect that it was in fact important, even needful, for men to strive to please women. In fact, the assertion was frequently made that, since women in truth adore “alpha” badboys and despise “beta” niceguys, it was therefore incumbent upon men to practice “game” in order to give the ladies what they want (and thus be enabled to score frequently, since chastity is apparently for suckers).

Late last year, the ‘Hailgate’ incident ignited a furious war of words on the Alt-Right, centring on the use of Nazi rhetoric and imagery by people in our movement.

In my view, most people in the Alt-Right took the correct line: viewing the incident as a failure, chastising those responsible, but not overreacting and cutting ties with the movement as a whole. Those who did try to distance themselves were wrong: four drunkards doing Nazi salutes in an audience of more than three hundred is pretty damn respectable, especially at a time when 'mainstream' heads of state were puffing on Fidel Castro’s dead mass-murdering Commie cigar.

REVIEW: "LOOK WHO'S BACK"

It was Hitler’s birthday a couple of day ago. As readers here will know, I’m no Nordicist, and I do not necessarily think that my world would have been better off if the Germans had achieved the type of domination they sought under his leadership, but there are elements within Hitlerism and Nazism that I admire.

The oppositions posed by the Nazi regime – of socialism to capitalism, of labour to speculation, of nationalism to internationalism, of folk to communism, of the iron law of hierarchy to the lie of egalitarianism – represent a Weltanschauung that has been largely overshadowed and expunged by the racist rhetoric and the Holocaust™. So, it was an interesting experience for me to watch the German comedy film Look Who’s Back (Er ist wieder da, 2015), which I viewed on Netflix. It was filmed before the current migrant crisis, adapted from a bestselling novel by Timur Vermes (2012) and directed by David Wnendt.

ISRAEL RESTORES NATIONALISM

As I have mentioned before (at least eight years before), Israel will lead the way in restoring Nationalism, which is a world order where boundaries are defined by the simultaneous shared ethnicity, culture, and values of a population.

Now to the dismay of liberals everywhere, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formalized that statement. In a brilliant act of statecraft that flew over the heads of mainstream media, Netanyahu both re-legalized the defense of an indigenous ethnic majority by a state, and announced his plans for Palestine:

Mr. Netanyahu said in a speech to the Zionist Congress on Tuesday night that "Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews." The prime minister said that the mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini, had protested to Hitler that "they’ll all come here," referring to Palestine. 

"So what should I do with them?" Mr. Netanyahu quoted Hitler as asking Mr. Husseini. "He said, 'Burn them.'"

In a weirdly historic turn of events, the Slovenian art-noise-industrial-Gestapo-Stasi rock band Laibach is playing Pyongyang, North Korea this week. Their show, we are told, is based heavily upon the band's reinterpretation of various songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's  "The Sound of Music." (!)

Assuming you even know who James Burnham is at all, he probably occupies a footnote at best in your mind. A notable political theorist and activist during the mid-20th century, he began his public life as a Marxist and Trotskyist but later transitioned to conservatism, spending the latter decades of his life as a columnist for National Review. Shortly after the fall of France in World War II, he wrote The Managerial Revolution, a radical tract that deserves to be more widely read.

Burnham’s claim was that capitalism was dead, but that it was being replaced not by socialism, but a new economic system he called “managerialism”; rule by managers.

Today is the anniversary of the birth of Adolf Hitler. In his lifetime he was a remarkable and misunderstood man – Machiavellian in his seizure of power, yet surprisingly un-Machiavellian in his use of it. But it was only in death that he became something altogether more unique than just another scrambler and fumbler after the orb of power.

Posthumously he underwent the opposite of an apotheosis, and became a symbol of ultimate evil, a necessary hate figure and fetish of taboo for the post-war Liberal West. You realize this when you travel or live beyond the flubbery boundary of the Western Liberal bubble. Partly in reaction to his exaggerated status as the icon of evil in the hegemonic West, but also because of a more objective view of the man, Hitler is viewed in a much more ambivalent and tolerant way by the rest of the World.

If the alternative right stands for anything, it stands for metapolitics, which, in essence, is a quest for ideological hegemony by positing a frame that is larger than all the other frames. This, in a nutshell, is what ideology is all about: Whoever can create the biggest frame, while also retaining contact with reality, wins.

This was the great attraction and power of Marxism, despite its evident failure as a tool of prediction and economic organization. It claimed to see the bigger picture and the unseen forces that drove history.

A Brief History of Political Marginalization

Andrew Anglin of The Daily Stormer has honoured me with a lengthy and detailed reply to my article about his article about RamZPaul’s vlog on Robert Ransdell’s quixotic senate campaign. This is all well and as it should be: people who purportedly care about the future of the White race and nationalism airing their differences in public and having what is known as a healthy debate.

But it is revealing that the image chosen to accompany this reply is a publicity shot of Russell Crowe in Romper Stomper, perhaps the most famous on-screen example of a self-destructive White Nationalism, living in the past and associating itself with the reviled symbolism of the Third Reich.

While The Daily Stormer has a certain populist appeal within the ghetto of hard-line White Nationalists, which can be likened to the initial popularity of Russell Crowe’s character amongst his gang mates in that movie, Anglin’s professed purpose of mass conversion and moving the Overton window seems a clear pipe dream. Now why is that?

THE DUMBEST PEOPLE EVER: THE NAZIFICATION OF WHITENESS

The latest emotional spasm in the media over Gaza is nothing new. The matter of Israeli brutality (which is largely beyond doubt) and the resultant, predictable outrage from the usual quarters, is so recurrent and predictable that it has practically become a Western tradition in its own right, with its own coded language and ritual and putative ‘outsiders’ who ‘don’t get it’. Criticism of Israel and Zionists is of course perfectly understandable and, if I were required to make the choice, Anti-Zionism is the only position I would be prepared to take. However, I have found that there is an additional, third option, which is simply to accept that each side, the Jews and the Arabs, have a right to fight for their existence. This is what is known as neutrality.

It normally involves not making any outward assumptions about the legitimacy or moral superiority of one side or the other and simply letting them fight it out. Some people may be persuaded to reject neutrality in this matter on the basis that ‘our’ governments are aiding the Israelis with military technology and what not, but these are not ‘our’ governments. Western governments are largely under the influence of the Zionist lobby. If they wish to supply and lend favour to their client, Israel, that is a matter for them, but no imperative arises from this for white people to take one side or the other.

Soccer and the Campaign for Anti-Racism

For most of those interested in it, the World Cup exists on two levels. First, there is the intense partisan connection that all supporters feel for their own national team—some of the deepest and occasionally darkest feelings known to man. Then there is the wider interest in the game—a more generous and objective love of the skills and stories generated by the competition, such as Germany's remarkable ability to destroy teams on the break, Diego Forlan's incredible shooting accuracy, Maradona's touchy- feely management style, and, of course, Paul the Octopus.

Typically the earlier stages of World Cups are experienced mainly on the first level, while in the latter stages—after most of the teams have been knocked out—supporters tend to broaden their appreciation and enjoy the game in a more general sense.

In my case, as the supporter of a country (Scotland) that failed even to qualify for the World Cup finals, my interest has been on the second level, except for a passing interest in seeing my country's traditional rival (England) knocked out—an aspiration that has thankfully come to pass.

HEBREWS AND HOLLOW GESTURES: THE SHALLOWNESS OF JEWISH SUPPORT FOR MINORITIES

Many white nationalists and those on the alternative right have rightly pointed out the disgusting hypocrisy of many influential Western Jews. The same people who promote multiculturalism and denounce any manifestations of white identity unapologetically assert Israel’s right to exist as a “Jewish state.” I won’t write about that, since Jewish hypocrisy regarding Israel is well documented. However, what isn’t acknowledged too often is the insincerity of Jewish support for non-white minorities within Western countries. Jews love to boast about how they supported the black civil rights movements and were at the forefront of liberal egalitarian movements. But did they really care about black people and other minorities, or were more self-serving motives present? The late Malcolm X has his own answer to that question:

“I gave the Jew credit for being among all other whites the most active, and the most vocal, financier, “leader” and “liberal” in the Negro civil rights movement. But I said at the same time I knew that the Jew played these roles for a very careful strategic reason: the more prejudice in America could be focused upon the Negro, then the more the white Gentiles’ would keep diverted off the Jew. I said that to me, one proof that all the civil rights posturing of so many Jews wasn’t sincere was that so often in the North the quickest segregationists were Jews themselves…And an even clearer proof for me of how Jews truly regard Negroes, I said, was what invariably happened wherever a Negro moved into a neighborhood that was thickly Jewish. Who would lead the whites’ exodus? The Jews!”

SANE REVISONISM

On the True Right, as indeed everywhere else, there is probably no topic more controversial than the question of revising the establishment view of the Second World War. However, the critical importance of the Second World War makes it inevitable that any movement of European revival will have to take up a position on it sooner or later. For what it’s worth, mine is as follows:

1. The establishment view of the Second World War, which upholds the present evil and unjust order in Europe and legitimises the ethnic replacement of Europeans, must be revised;
2. This revision must not proceed in the direction of whitewashing or ‘rehabilitating’ the justifiedly black reputation of Nazi Germany.

WHEN YOU'RE COVERED IN SHIT...

Every year Counter-Currents, which is regarded as an important Alt-Right site, used to put up a little "virtual shrine" to Hitler on his birthday, at least until this article appeared. This was a great chance for Greg Johnson, to make a little money selling books to Nazi LARPers (real Nazis no longer exist). This was just one of many ways that the Alt-Right allowed itself to be conflated with Naziism. In April 2013, I saw this shit yet again and wrote the following article at AlternativeRight.com to make the point that this was not the way for the Alt-Right to go. Three and a half years later, Richard Spencer was heiling Trump.

When you’re covered in shit – whether your own or something you just trod in – what do you do? There are a number of strategies. I don’t want to leave any of them out so here is a list:

1. Head straight for the nearest tap or bathroom to wash the shit off.
2. Ignore your own shit and instead divert the "shit narrative" to other people’s shit.
3. Pretend that the shit isn’t shit (and even wallow in it).
4. A combination of any 2 or 3 of the above.

There, I think that about covers it.
