ARE HUMANS NATURALLY CONSERVATIVE AS A SPECIES?

by Dota

The two greatest forces that impact any community are economics and politics. Economics is primarily concerned with the distribution of resources, whereas politics is concerned with the distribution of power. Conventional wisdom states that societies and culture are formed at the intersection of the two. So, which came first, politics or economics?

THE PLATONIC TYRANNY OF ERDOGAN AND THE WORST COUP EVER

He's not Turkey's Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!
by Duns Scotus

The world has reached "Peak Democracy," with the result that we can expect to see it start collapsing any day soon. Those places where it is most likely to collapse include South America and parts of Asia, in both of which it has not really been a natural fit. Also, in certain countries, like Russia and Japan, it will continue simply because it doesn’t rock the boat too much or throw up important divisions, but elsewhere, where it does, it will face something of a reckoning.

Turkey is a good example of the problems with democracy, and why this should have been ideal territory for a partial collapse of democracy. Like Venezuela with Chavas, Brazil with Lula, or Thaksin Shinawatra in Thailand, democracy in Turkey – forced on it by its proximity and economic dependence on Europe – has basically empowered the underclass, but rather than this expressing itself in more gibsmedats it has been channelled along the lines of the creeping Islamization of Turkish society, which reveals a little of Islam's utility as a control mechanism.

NORD BY NORD-WEST: A GUIDO GONZO REPORT FROM NPI

"I Sing the Disembodied Electric"

I traveled with three companions, part of a Pan-European nationalist student group to Richard Spencer’s NPI conference by car from Toronto Canada.

I had not visited our Southern Neighbor since I was a little boy and my father would take me to Buffalo to visit his uncle. On this occasion I observed marked differences between the two countries, some of which I was only conceptually aware of; namely the ubiquitous presence of the military in people's lives, something that is so foregrounded in American society as to be institutionalized in a way Canadians cannot understand in our post-bellum, soft, socialist, multiculturalist dystopia. And, yes, Americans are significantly fatter on average. But there was also a marked religious element pervading their worldview, something altogether transcendent and not always rooted in institutions.

GOOD TO THE GOOD, AND BAD TO THE BAD

Human reality is separate from cosmic reality because human minds are closed systems. If the human does not force his mind to perceive the external and make his analytical decisions based on that, his mind will form a feedback loop where it merely echoes back to itself as 'truth' that which it wishes to be true.

In The Republic, Plato recounts a debate between Socrates and other Greeks. One holds that justice is found through power alone, and another holds that justice lies in not harming others at all. Socrates finds a happy medium: "good to the good, and bad to the bad," and explores that as the basis for a better morality.
