Back in 2016, many claimed that “Angry Birds,” a movie based on the famous computer game, was in fact an Alt Right-ish allegory referencing the migrant invasion of the West, allegedly making a sympathetic pitch to what is often nastily called “nativism,” but is, more properly speaking, a rational defense of one’s homeland and heritage against its malevolently-willed demographic dilution and destruction.

News recently came out that around half of Germany's population of Turks don't work. This is quite a drag on the economy, as there are thought to be over 4 million of them in the country, or 5% of the total population. Also, it is worth pointing out that this is not some EU backwater with high unemployment, but the economic powerhouse of Europe where well-paid jobs are not hard to get. So, what exactly is going on here?

Short answer: The bad end of a Faustian bargain.

ON THE WHITE NATIONALIST 'FERTILITY CULT'

Discerning readers ought to take note at the outset that I have long been a contributor to Alternative Right, even before I became a co-editor in 2013, before demoting myself to an assistant editor in 2015. Readers should also note that—as I have always made clear—I am not now a white nationalist, have never been a white nationalist, and don’t intend to become a white nationalist in the future.

But I wished to preface this critique of white nationalism with these clarifications, lest anyone accuse me of the dread act of “countersignaling.”

AN IDEOLOGY OF NATIONALISM

You might think that even use of the word ideology—let alone devoting a whole talk to it—is about as pretentious as you can get. But as the comedian Bob Monkhouse might have said: “When did I ever say that I was unpretentious.” That might be the only time that Bob Monkhouse has ever been quoted at a Nationalist meeting—a first and I suspect a last!

Is ideology just a pretentious word for policy? Emphatically not; but the two are necessarily connected. Ideology—a system or discourse of ideas—contains the necessary roots of policies. The ideological roots of policies are as essential to their health and well-being as the roots of trees are to the health and well being of trees.

These days, people are talking quite a bit about African-Americans and crime, violence and race warfare. While the connection is hard to ignore, we should make it clear that we are not scapegoating those who are the symptom and not the origin of the problem. That leads to further revelations which might put the entire situation in context.

As I have written before, minorities face an ugly dilemma: assimilate and lose culture or retain culture and be marginalized. No amount of welfare state programs can recover the pride and sense of well-being that is lost as a group realizes that it is not in control of its own fate, and exists merely as a tool of something larger. Even if the majority is mixed-race, that “new race” is hostile to the minority group, and by the nature of young people falling into attraction with those around them, will quickly destroy the original race and replace it with the new monoculture of non-race. This alone would induce a fury in one sufficient to explain any number of riots and crimes.

Greece, as is well known, was the birthplace of comedy and tragedy. Recently, with the GREXIT crisis, the “Greferendum” (the vote on whether Alexis Tsipras should prostrate himself to Angela Merkel or simply kow-tow), and all the other absurdities of recent months, we have seen both of these thespian aspects in constant interplay. One simply doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Greece has effectively become a tragicomedy

The main problem all Western countries have is that we now have highly-evolved economic, administrative, and policing systems – coping systems – that can manage most of the problems now deeply embedded in our societies. This sounds great but it isn’t. What it really means is that we seldom have to directly face any of our problems and thus we seldom have to solve them. Our system is essentially maladaptive. Having a gang of idiots like SYRIZA in power, however, changes this dynamic. This is the main value of the Left today.

THE TROUBLE WITH GEORGE

So break out the old red-and-white banner (the police are on their way, you racist!), thump the "three lions" badge on your chest, and burst into the rousing chorus of Jerusalem, the stirring hymn that is tipped to become the official English national anthem when the UK breaks up in a few years time.

The peoples of Europe have been involved in a massive shell and pea game. I’m not quite sure when exactly the switch was made, but it was definitely made sometime, because when the shells stopped moving and we took our pick, there was no pea to be seen. The democracy we thought we were getting had dematerialized into rules, regulations, dictates from Brussels, "human rights" legislation, mind-control from the media, and supranational bodies telling us what to do all the time about everything!

“Where is our democracy?” we feebly ask, confused that, having jumped through the hoops and done the little dance with the ballot papers and boxes, we are still not getting it. Instead we get what they decide to give us. We get what we don’t want – exactly what we don't want. Then, when we complain, we are shown our signatures on the order form. "Yup, that's us," we meekly concur, scratching our heads. "I guess we did vote for that after all, but...but..." No buts. Welcome to post-democracy.

The memory of Enoch Powell, a paragon of the political Right, is enjoying something of a resurgence in these ‘diverse’ and ‘vibrant’ times of ethnic plenty.

Mr Powell’s address to a 1968 Conservative party general meeting (now referred to as the Rivers of Blood speech) gave rise to the now frequent utterance and heart-felt proclamation that, “Enoch Was Right!” He was most certainly of the Right, but were Enoch’s motives right and correct, or have modern day nationalists merely been sloppy in their aggrandisement of this totemic political personality?

I’m not much of a number cruncher; life is too short. Also, most of the things that detailed statistical analysis can 'reveal' are as clear as the nose on your face. But that doesn't stop overfunded think-tanks like the Heritage Foundation trying to drum up numbers to back up self-evident truths, in this case the negative effects of continuing mass immigration.

It is obvious that if America opts for "amnesty" – a nice-sounding word for open borders – that the country will be trapped in a "dysgenic cycle" of ever lower IQs, higher and higher fertility, and greater and greater welfare.

The Economist is one of those smug, know-it-all publications that think they've got the inside track on the way the world works but in essence know nothing, or even worse than nothing, existing as veritable black holes of anti-wisdom.

You can tell they know nothing because in any given situation, regardless of differing circumstances, they invariably repeat the same message. I notice this particularly in their Japanese coverage, which I had a chance to peruse again in a recent article "Why the Japanese are having so few babies" prompted by a Japanese public official's suggestion that the country could boost its low birth rate by issuing secretly punctured condoms.

MANCUR OLSON AND THE DECLINE OF NATIONS

Why do great and powerful nations which appear unbeatable decline and fall? One might immediately conclude that they are simply overcome by the growth of inevitably superior forces despite all the advantages in resources which being powerful has brought them.

The best known example is Rome which enjoyed extraordinary abilities in organisation and in the technology it could apply by the standards of the day yet still collapsed.

Mancur Olson (1932-1998) was an American economist who addressed this question from the point of view of how things work in societies as a result of the formation of groups pursuing particular interests. How do incentives to combine together in self-interest affect what happens? See his book "The Rise and Decline of Nations."

The virtue of democratic government at first sight is that any group which feels itself disadvantaged can form a coalition and lobby to improve its position. That is certainly the version of democracy purveyed by politicians on the stump. It’s in principle correct if you ignore the obstacles placed in the path by a system protecting its power interests against interlopers.

But there is a paradox here, Olson argues. It is logical to think that if enough people are discontented and agree on a common interest that they will act in concert and influence how things work. In reality they often do not.

Those who call for common sense in immigration are following an honourable tradition of conserving our homogeneity going back at least as far as Queen Elizabeth I who expelled "the Blackamors" in 1602.

In this fine British tradition, Sir Winston Churchill attempted to introduce a Bill to control immigration in 1955. He also wanted the Conservative Party to adopt the slogan "Keep England White." [1]

SEA CHANGES: AN INTERVIEW WITH DEREK TURNER

The fact that Derek Turner’s magisterial Sea Changes is a deeply “relevant” novel ought not to fool the potential reader into thinking that it has the typical earmarks of a “timely” read. Though its multifaceted, intricately-weaved storyline perfectly embodies the “ripped from today’s headlines” cliché, Sea Changes also has the feel of a timeless work, written less for the day and more for the ages.

Indeed, though Turner is writing about events and phenomena that many find enraging—politically-correct British ethno-masochism, mass Third World immigration and the concomitant mounting threat of white extinction in England—Sea Changes is notable for not reading as an angry or incendiary novel. Those expecting a crudely cartoonish anti-anti-racism screed a la The Turner Diaries are sure to be disappointed. Though Turner clearly means to skewer and savage the anti-“racist” (read: anti-white) cant-driven dogmas and smelly little orthodoxies that saturate our era, he does so in a most elegant and compassionate manner, with malice towards none except the unforgivably disingenuous.

POST-DEMOCRACY AND THE BROKEN SOCIAL CONTRACT

Back in 2011 it was revealed that ALL sexual assaults involving rape in Oslo in the previous five years were committed by "males of non-Western background." The figures released by the police showed that in the five years between 2005 and 2010, there were 86 rapes, in which 83 of the perpetrators were described as having a "non-Western" appearance. The remaining three cases involved unknown attackers, but, given the identity of the other 83 attackers, it would be reasonable to assume that they, too, were non-Whites.

The women attacked were, of course, overwhelmingly Norwegian.
