He contends that what we are seeing here is a geopolitical struggle for hegemony in the Sunni Muslim World between a revanchist "Neo-Ottoman" Turkey and a medievalist Saudi Arabian monarchy that is attempting to use its oil billions to burnish its image with modern PR tactics and appeals to the West.

The world has reached "Peak Democracy," with the result that we can expect to see it start collapsing any day soon. Those places where it is most likely to collapse include South America and parts of Asia, in both of which it has not really been a natural fit. Also, in certain countries, like Russia and Japan, it will continue simply because it doesn’t rock the boat too much or throw up important divisions, but elsewhere, where it does, it will face something of a reckoning.

Turkey is a good example of the problems with democracy, and why this should have been ideal territory for a partial collapse of democracy. Like Venezuela with Chavas, Brazil with Lula, or Thaksin Shinawatra in Thailand, democracy in Turkey – forced on it by its proximity and economic dependence on Europe – has basically empowered the underclass, but rather than this expressing itself in more gibsmedats it has been channelled along the lines of the creeping Islamization of Turkish society, which reveals a little of Islam's utility as a control mechanism.

QUIETLY SIDLE AWAY FROM TURKEY, FOLKS

The good thing about using proxies is that when things f**k up, you can throw then to the dogs and pretend you never knew them. That is more or less the correct attitude to have towards Turkey at the moment, after the hair-trigger shooting down of a Russian aircraft after it zipped into a tiny sliver of Turkish airspace for a few seconds.

A few facts:

According to the Turks, the Russian plane crossed 1.7 miles of Turkish territory before it was shot down. That would have taken a few seconds for a supersonic Russian jet, giving the lie to the other part of the Turkish story that they had repeatedly warned the Russian plane about intruding into their airspace.

Things either have logical coherence or they don’t. If they do, then there is a high chance that every component element is sound and true, each validated by the other. If they don’t have logical coherence, then obviously something is false and wrong, and we can begin the search for the flawed or broken element.

For a long time, those on the alternative right have tried to view Putin as some kind of saviour, as a force for traditionalism and a much-needed opponent to a globalist West run amok. But who is there among us who has not had his doubts? We all have, and those who haven’t can be dismissed as idiots or unthinking Slavophiles.

JOBBIK'S UNHOLY ALLIANCE

Following the events surrounding the recent NPI conference in Budapest, in which Jobbik distinguished itself by its cowardice and lack of solidarity for fellow identitarians, here is Colin Liddell's appraisal of the party, published last year at the Occidental Observer.

It seems that these days hatred, and the right to use it, even in defence of one’s nation, race, and culture, has to be offset by plenty of misplaced love. This is the take home message from Gábor Vona’s recent trip to Turkey, where the president of the Hungarian nationalist party Jobbik has been declaring his "Eurasian love":

"I didn’t come here to talk to you about the transitory subject of diplomatic and economic relations. Others will do that on behalf of me. I came here to meet my brothers and sisters, to offer a fraternal alliance and bring you the good news: Hungarians are awakening. Our common mission and the universal task of Turanism [see also Hungarian Turanism] are to build bridges between East and West, between Muslims and Christians, to be able to fight together for a better world – to show to the world that Christians and Muslims are not enemies, but brothers and sisters. No one can accomplish this mission more effectively than Hungarians and Turks because we are connected by common blood."

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH IRAQ

Call me naïve, but when Iraq fell to the American-led and British-followed invasion of 2003, I thought the simplest solution to the problem posed by this country to the region and itself would also be the one most acceptable to its three main ethnic groups, the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds, namely a messy but cathartic divorce that would allow each of the three groups to achieve separate nationhood and with it internal integrity and security.

Ethnic maps of Iraq revealed that the South and East of the country was and is overwhelmingly Shiite in population, while Sunnis were prevalent in the Centre and West, with the Kurds already semi-independent in the North. Given the centuries of bad blood between these three groups, exacerbated over the last few decades by Saddam's Baathist regime, it seemed a Sisyphean labor to try and force these three distinct groups to live harmoniously together.

An interview with Gennady Sivak, head of the "Social Patriotic Assembly of the Slavs" on the situation in the Crimea

Mr. Sivak, since in Kiev the so called “Maidan Movement” took power, the people in Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine started organizing to defend themselves against the new pro-Western government in Kiev. What can you tell us about the situation in Crimea?

Sivak: Citizens of the Crimean Republic will never recognize the violations of the Constitution of Ukraine, the result of which was that the armed bandits came to power. On February 27 the Supreme Council of the Crimean Republic voted for this statement. Crimea does not recognize the Verkhovna Rada (National Parliament) of Ukraine.
