STAIRCASE HISTORY AND THE SUBPRIME MORALITY OF THE NANKING MASSACRE

by Colin Liddell

The French have a term for it, L’esprit de l’escalier, or “staircase wit.” It means bright and witty sayings thought of too late as one is exiting a party. But history has its own “staircase” element as well, namely events that receive historical attention much later than they should if, as we are supposed to believe, they were so important to begin with.

FLOODING CHINA TO STEM THE JAPANESE TIDE

Chiang, determined to win at all costs.
by Empire & Revolution

When did WWII begin? Most would say it was when Germany invaded Poland in 1939, but a good case can be made for July 7th, 1937, when the Japanese kicked off their invasion of China, a campaign that lasted eight years and became a major part of WWII. One of the biggest and most dramatic events in that war was the deliberate flooding of a large area of China in 1938 by the Nationalist Chinese government in an attempt to halt the rapid Japanese advance. This occurred 80 years ago today.

XINJIANG, HONG KONG, AND THE DANGERS OF ECONOMIC DETERMINISM

Pity the Uighurs. Over three years after I wrote about the plight of China’s beleaguered Turkic minority, their predicament has only gotten worse. Not content to crack down on sporadic outbursts of Uighur rage, China — still too big and non-white to oppose — now insists on regulating all aspects of Uighur life; and the result is a surveillance state on steroids.

NORTH KOREA AS AN EXPRESSION OF CHINESE INTELLIGENT DESIGN

If this did not exist it would have to be created.

by Colin Liddell

The level of analysis of the North Korean situation in America's corridors of power is laughable. Yes, literally.

Trump's recent comment about his button being bigger than Kim Jong-un’s "button" was ROFL tier and highlighted the general absurdity of the situation as it is perceived and projected in America. Then, following this Bond-villain slapstick, we saw the lumbering bulk of Trump and America deftly side-stepped by a mini-thaw in relations between the two Koreas, ironically brought on by the forthcoming Winter Olympics, with China and Russia looking on approvingly.

The real flaw with most of the analysis is simple. It views things purely from the American side of the windscreen, when the fact is the US Empire is no longer on the motorway—as it seems to think it is—but is in fact entering the metal scrapping yard, headed for the crusher. The real story here is that America is the object, not the subject, in the situation, and in ways that its ruling elites are clearly oblivious of.

So, who is really in the driving seat here?

WHY CHINA IS OVERTAKING THE WEST

Instead of indulging in arrogant displays of military might, intended to intimidate tiny North Korea and pressure China, President Trump and the West would be better advised to try to learn a few things from China .

The President’s recent trip to the Far East came on the heels of the completion of China’s 19th National Congress, where the current president, Xi Jinping, has cunningly positioned himself as China’s unchallenged leader. In an address at the opening of the Congress, Xi cautioned that the country faced "challenges" that are "extremely grim" yet, despite these, the nation’s future is "extremely bright."

THE ROOT OF PROGRESSIVIST SIN

The ‘True Right’ is informed by many writers who oppose the materialist perspective which insists on reducing human conflict to a profit-and-loss struggle over economic resources. While much of modern orthodoxy insists on analysing human affairs through a “rational” prism better suited to comprehending the behaviour of food-seeking worms, these writers (who include, for example, Ricardo Duchesne in The Uniqueness of Western Civilisation) correctly stress the irrational struggle for prestige – recognition of one’s status, remembrance of one’s deeds, and above all, aggrandisement of one’s pride – as a determining factor in social conflict.

AMERICA AS A GEOPOLITICAL IDIOT

In recent years the "American Empire" has been losing ground badly. Not only has Putin outmanoeuvred it in the Middle East, but now the Chinese have gained a major geopolitical victory by persuading the Philippines to break ranks, effectively opening a door in the archipelago of islands in Asia that served as a "sea wall" containing China's rising power. In our latest YouTube video, Colin Liddell, Chief Editor of Alternative Right, addresses this issue and comes to the conclusion that realpolitik and mutual economic benefit is a better foundation for geopolitical power than social justice posturing and pandering to the interests of an ethnic donor class.

VIDEO: ELECTORAL AFTERMATH

Right now, with all eyes focused on the electoral dogfight between Trump and Hillary, less thought is being given to the likely outcomes of each candidate's victories. Alternative Right Chief Editor Colin Liddell considers how each scenario could play out, and which candidate would move things most in the direction of the Alt-Right and the more fundamental changes we believe in.

WHY CHINA WON THE 2008 OLYMPICS

Originally published at Caste Football in 2008, and republished to coincide with the Rio Olympics.

Some countries will do anything to get an Olympic medal. Georgia, for example, went to the trouble of recruiting both its men and women’s beach volleyball teams from players rejected from Brazil’s national team. This meant that players who spoke no Georgian, knew almost nothing about the country, and had only visited it once or twice, briefly, competed under its banner. Luckily, justice was done and both teams failed to get a medal.

Georgia’s neighbour Turkey was more successful. It got a couple of silver medals from the Ethiopian long distance runner Elvan Abeylegesse. Compared to the ‘Georgians,’ at least Abeylegesse had lived in the country for a few years and had also married but then divorced a Turkish national. Still, the reason she finished second in the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races wasn’t because she was Turkish. Despite what it said on her passport or vest, she was still biologically benefiting from having the lightweight frame and high red blood cell count of an Ethiopian.

THE WESTERN CULTURAL REVOLUTION

In certain traditional cultures, it was believed that invoking the name of a god or demon could serve as a means of gaining power over it. Perhaps something like this also applies in metapolitics.

Consider, for example, the power that the Left has gained by using the name “fascism” against its enemies, in spite of the fact that this name was tenuous enough as a description of the wartime Axis powers and is used even more inaccurately now. Typically, when the name “fascism” is invoked upon a political group, something close to the results of a black spell are produced: the public is induced to see violence and defeat in the targeted group, and within the group itself, some are induced to disown their comrades in acts of “self-purification” while others are mesmerised into embracing the name as a suicide embraces the noose.

PODCAST 36: TRANS PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP - GLOBALISM'S LAST GRASP?

One of Donald Trump's campaign claims is that he would make much better deals for America. Colin and Andy are joined by Alt-Right contributors Siryako Akda (Philippines) and Daniel Spaulding (Korea) to look at America's latest deal – the Transpacific Partnership, a major new trade treaty that aims to lower tariffs and impose common standards on a culturally diverse group of nations.

PODCAST 33: THE GREEK CRISIS & THE CHINESE BUBBLE

With last-minute attempts being made to keep Greece in the Euro and China facing a serious stock market crash, Colin Liddell is joined by Alt-Right's man in the Philippines, Siryako Akda, to discuss the turbulent state of the global economy. Issues raised include the rise of the EU's "invisble empire," the "liquidity killing" tendencies of parsimonious Orientals, and whether global capitalism has finally run out of road. Is the World getting ready for an autarkic Winter, and if so will liberal leftism be the first luxury chucked overboard?

ALT-RIGHT PODCAST 20: THE ASIAN CENTURY?

Colin is joined by the legendary Matt Forney and Daniel Spaulding, a contributor to Alternative Right to discuss – and dispense 'fortune cookie' wisdom on  "The Asian Question." Will the 21st century be the Asian (or Chinese) century? Other topics include Confucian values, Asian intelligence and conformity, and demographic trends.

THE TRUE GLOBAL MINORITY

Our liberal leaning mainstream media never hesitates to inform us that whites are slowly but surely becoming minorities within Western countries. Most of the time such trends are reported in a mildly enthusiastic manner, with naysayers depicted as paranoid and alarmist racists. I guess according to leftist logic, objecting to your group’s eventual extinction renders you a horrible extremist.

However, another refrain that I’ve heard from many online leftists on blogs and elsewhere is that whites are already a global minority. Therefore, recent demographic changes are only natural. When reading through Studs Terkel’s book Race, one black woman that he interviewed emphatically rejected the term “minority” in favor of “people of color,” arguing that non-whites like her are the global majority.

Putting aside the foolish notion of a united “people of color” coalition and the fact that all groups are global minorities (as once pointed out by Jared Taylor), I’ll accept the argument that whites are a global minority at face value. After all, one cannot technically dispute such a claim. However, in the spirit of my post on the left and collective responsibility, I’m going to play the fun game of taking leftist logic and applying it to other groups. In this case, the intended target of my game are leftists themselves.

HONG KONG AND THE HOLLOWNESS OF THE CHINESE DREAM

When the Hong Kong protests first began, I regarded the whole thing with impartial interest. As a foreigner, it was an entirely Chinese affair. However, like most major political events in our heavily globalized world, the protests are not just isolated events; they have implications for other parts of the world as well. This is particularly true for the Hong Kong protests, since they can be interpreted in several different ways.

POSTCOLONIAL SELECTIVE OUTRAGE

China — Too Big and Non-White to Oppose

I’m going to do something radical and completely out of character; I’m going to cut Zionist Jews and Israel some slack! You heard me right. Is it because I’ve come to embrace organized Jewry and Israel? Is it because I somehow believe that Israel is in fact not guilty of its various crimes against humanity? No and no. I’m doing it because liberal Zionists are actually correct when they insist that the far left and various Social Justice Warriors are hypocrites when they single out Israel for special condemnation. I guess the blind squirrel can find the nut every now and then.

POT, KETTLE, BLACKS, ETC.

Thanks, America!

by Colin Liddell

Love and being the United States of America means never having to say you're sorry (at least not yet). It also means being pompously and ludicrously self-righteous – a bit like someone with a toilet seat around their neck offering you advice on etiquette.

The latest clanger in this line was dropped by Chuck Hagel, the US defence (sic) secretary at a recent three-day summit held in Singapore, where he accused China of being a "destabilizing force" in the South China Sea. Yes, perhaps in that little patch of brine, but what kind of authority does America have to accuse any country of destabilizing anywhere? After all, this is a country that is currently supporting factions – or simply stirring the shit – in on-going bloodbaths in Egypt, Syria, and the Ukraine.

AS SOCIAL TRUST WANES, WE WEAKEN

by Henry Dampier

The West is in a crisis surrounding a general collapse in social trust. Rather than focusing too much on the macro political situation, I would rather explore the consequences of this at the personal level.

Unlike when my grandfathers were working, or when my father worked, it is common for employees to distrust their bosses and their co-workers. There is no sense that the company exists for the long term benefits of its stake-holders. At a far lower level of technology and gross profitability, employees even at the lower level could expect to advance their careers within the same corporation for their entire lives. My grandfather was not an executive — he was a simple accountant at General Electric — but his retirement package ultimately made him a multimillionaire. He lived modestly for most of his life, did not work long hours, and raised two children.

MANDATE OF THE HEAVENS

The extension of China’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) recently generated a lot of not so subtle butthurt in regional geopolitics here in Asia, so it is prudent to examine this particular issue within a broader context.

CHINA ENGINEERING GENIUS BABIES

While scientific work in the West continues to be constrained by the dogma of human equality and therefore focuses predominantly on relatively expensive surgical and medicinal therapies to retrospectively improve the condition of individual humans, the Chinese, free from such dogmatic constraints are employing state-of-the-art-gene sequencing technologies as part of a state sponsored eugenics programme aimed at achieving significant advances in the quality of their future generations.

BGI Shenzhen, known as the Beijing Genomics Institute prior to 2008, is one of the world’s premier genome sequencing centres and was created in 1999.
