The Alt Right has outlived every prediction by a credible source and continues to gain momentum. Essentially an updated European New Right that incorporates social conservatism and rejects the reliance on socialist-style government, the Alt Right forms a cultural wave that has successfully upended politics in the late stages of liberal democracy.

However, right now the Alt Right suffers for its success, because in becoming a voice with authority, it has attracted a wide range of people to that voice, including the type of angry losers who were in actual hate groups back in the day and the type of resentful and pointless internet fedora-toffing, neckbeard, basement dwelling NEETs that we all know from Reddit, which apparently infiltrated 4chan some time ago and took over large portions of it.

It is time to deliver on the promise of this essay – which is, of course, an answer to the great question contained in its title. Can our movement honestly lay claim to the Rightist tradition of the West, which in turn leads back to the roots of our civilisation? ANTHONY D. SMITH: CULTURIST HERO

Anthony D. Smith (1939-2016) is a culturist hero.  Alongside, Samuel P. Huntington  (1927 – 2008), Smith inspired me as I wrote ‘Culturism,’ in 2006.  Many will recognize Harvard’s Huntington for his having created the ‘Clash of Civilizations’ model. But, though he taught at the London School of Economics, very few know about or appreciate Smith’s ‘ethno-symbolism’ model of nationalism.

You’re from New York City – how does someone living in one of the most left wing areas in the country end up red-pilled?

JK: Actually, I’ve always found it odd that people from big multi-ethnic cities are so left-wing.  When you live in a big city like New York, you see very clearly that virtually all the violent and dangerous people around you are either Black or Brown. Virtually all the homeless people or people who work menial jobs are also Black or Brown.  When things are this obvious you can’t help but wonder if there’s something biologically different about darker races. When you do a little bit more digging the truth becomes clearer, and you have to wonder how anyone can think otherwise.

THE DEATH OF "RACISM"

From the Financial Times, an intriguing article entitled “White self-interest is not the same thing as racism: Accepting that all groups have legitimate interests fosters mutual understanding”:

"Modern liberals tend to believe that preference for your own ethnic group or even your own nation is a form of racism. Conservatives regard it as common sense and resent being labelled as racist…The question of legitimate ethnic interest is complex. Multiculturalism is premised on the rights of minorities to maintain certain traditions and ways of life. But liberals have usually been reluctant to extend such group rights to majorities…As Eric Kaufmann argues in a new Policy Exchange paper, accepting that all groups, including whites, have legitimate cultural interests is the first step toward mutual understanding."

The barrier wall, constructed of the illusion that racism is the ultimate evil, that any majority self-interest is racism, and that nationalism is unacceptable, has now permanently fractured. The concept of “racism” has died, just as the notion that diversity can work has disintegrated. There is no longer any faith in these ideological concepts.

THE COSMOPOLITAN AND THE EUROPEAN

Nationalists do not like to think of identity as malleable, invented, constructed by myths, determined by personal choice, and so on. This is natural enough, because such ideas – taken to their most ridiculous extremes – are used by our anti-nationalist establishment to garland the absurd superstition of magic borders, by which non-European foreigners are conjured into "British" and "French" so as to conceal the reality of an aggressive race-replacement policy.

The reason multiculturalism makes my blood boil is, whilst I am a libertarian, I am also strongly nationalistic. Many libertarians confuse nationalism with collectivism, statism, and racism; the implication being, if you’re an alt-righter and share nationalistic sentiments, you’re no libertarian. They assume we are delusionally taking personal pride in the historical achievements of long-dead, successful European people. That is, we forget our individualistic selves and imagine a racial collective which can take credit for the achievements of others who share certain genes. But, that’s not why I’m nationalistic at all.

ZIONISM IS NATIONALISM AND WORTH DEFENDING

The internet, which is now a social interaction, like all social interactions, distills complex ideas down to the viewpoint of the herd: we fear this, we do not fear that.

As a result, on the Right there is often talk about “Zionism” as being a horrible evil which intends to take over the world, forgetting that Zionism is an assertion of Nationalism—the idea that Jews need their own state, and all Jews belong there, where they can control their destiny and live according to their ways.

I realize, belatedly, that for most people in the world every issue splits to two options. Either you are pro-“racist,” or anti-“racist,” and things of that type.

I cannot relate to this. I grew up in the South and was taught since my earliest years to be a gentleman. That means a man who speaks the truth without reservation, but also without emotion, including the type of outburst we consider “emotion” but more properly is known as revenge.

This is a stimulating and readable collection of essays that I found myself both agreeing and disagreeing with. In the Germanic tradition of wanderlust, the author Welf Herfurth takes us through a personal account of his political journey, both metaphorical and actual, as Herfurth turns out to be something of a globe hopper.

This is the kind of anthology that is sure to resonate with any European nationalist, while having enough crossover appeal to be pushed in the direction of any fence-sitting or Left-leaning “normie” friend, with Welf acting the role as a personable guide into politically incorrect territory and taboo viewpoints. The book can be viewed as a Right-wing version of Rules for Radicals, where its strengths lie in its pragmatic and practical approach to political activism. It opens with an introduction and a preface respectively by New Right veterans Troy Southgate and Tomislav Sunic.

This is going to be a serious article about The Daily Stormer and much more important related issues. No, really! It is. Of course, any article about what is in fact just a troll site is going to have to struggle to be serious, but I have steeled my heart and girded my loins for that struggle.

First off, let’s deal with my previous article, as it managed to trick most people. It was—in case you hadn't realized—a deferential tribute to the actual style of The Daily Stormer. Imagine my surprise and trollish joy when not only the low-tier supporters of the Stormer, the famous troll army, but the Anglins and the chief Anglin himself reacted with the same kind of buttchappery that they try to inflict on their own targets.

ISRAEL RESTORES NATIONALISM

As I have mentioned before (at least eight years before), Israel will lead the way in restoring Nationalism, which is a world order where boundaries are defined by the simultaneous shared ethnicity, culture, and values of a population.

Now to the dismay of liberals everywhere, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formalized that statement. In a brilliant act of statecraft that flew over the heads of mainstream media, Netanyahu both re-legalized the defense of an indigenous ethnic majority by a state, and announced his plans for Palestine:

Mr. Netanyahu said in a speech to the Zionist Congress on Tuesday night that "Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews." The prime minister said that the mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini, had protested to Hitler that "they’ll all come here," referring to Palestine. 

"So what should I do with them?" Mr. Netanyahu quoted Hitler as asking Mr. Husseini. "He said, 'Burn them.'"

My recent articles have been critical of Eurasianism, and have raised a few questions. Alexander Dugin, the author of the two books referred to in my articles, has kindly offered to answer them.

Rémi Tremblay: In the West, Eurasianism seems to seek to ally itself with nationalists. However, in Russia nationalist groups like the ones that support Russia in the West were crushed and repressed. What can Western nationalists learn from that repression?

Alexander Dugin: Eurasianism works with different groups who are against liberalism, North American hegemony and Modernity as a whole. These groups can be right or left. It is most important to be against liberalism and Atlanticism. But Eurasianism is not nationalistic—it is a Fourth Political Theory, ideologically similar to the European New Right of Alain de Benoist.

AVOIDING THE FLAMES OF THE PHOENIX

In the East, like a phoenix arising from its ashes, Russia is rising once again. After the Tsarist Empire and the Soviet Republic, Russia is currently experiencing a renewal, a revival forcing us to rethink geopolitics.

For Western nationalists and identitarians, the rise of the country, led by its charismatic and unperturbed leader, Vladimir Putin, is an encouraging phenomenon. It means the end of the unipolar world managed by Uncle Sam. For us, this reshaping of the world means new possibilities, especially seeing that the Russians use a discourse opposed to the faux-human rights ideology so prevalent in the West. If America’s monopoly on power is currently being challenged, the same is true for its dominant values (democracy, secularism, individualism, etc.). Putin publicly justifies his actions with traditional values that are much closer to our own.

ISIS AS SUNNI ARAB NATIONALISM – CONFIRMED

In my article The Uses and Abuses of Arab Nationalism I said:

“ISIS is a bastardized expression of the nationalist identity and interests of Sunni Arabs. In all its deformity, the movement is simply filling a gap that should more correctly be filled by a healthy form of Arab nationalism.”

This view is now being confirmed by the evidence coming out of Syria and Iraq. A recent article in The Independent, "How Saddam Hussein's former military officers and spies are controlling Isis," presents evidence from a number of Syrian sources, including Abu Hamza, a former Syrian rebel, and makes the case that ISIS is little more than the old Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein hiding in a Muslim hijab:

HOW TO DEFEAT NATIONALISM WITHOUT DEFEATING NATIONALISM

You’ll have heard by now that the referendum on Scottish independence has resulted in a defeat for the YES campaign, with NO getting 55% of the vote to YES's 45%. You might also have picked up the message – piped in with the soothing background music – that everything is now back to normal.

But, two things: the campaign for Scottish independence has not been defeated and all is definitely not back to normal. Yes, the battle fought at the ballot boxes on the 18th of September resulted in an apparent decision in favour of NO and the status quo, but this was a Pyrrhic victory. The NO campaign may be straddling the winner’s podium, like a victorious redcoat after the battle of Culloden, but its guts are hanging round its ankles in the manner of an Anglo-Norman knight after the battle of Bannockburn.

SCOTLAND’S REFERENDUM ON ANGLO-GLOBALISM

In history timing is everything. When Scotland was forced by mosquitoes to throw in its lot with England, the timing couldn’t have been better. At the time, the power of the previously great Spanish Empire was depleted; and French power, although a threat for another hundred years or so, had been held in check by the alliance of Europe’s then beta powers (England, Austria, and Holland).

Although Scotland was small in population terms, adding the country and its hardy, adventurous, and canny people to the stolid, dependable English mass created an entity that was big enough and talented enough to get its nose in front. Among other possible alpha nations, Russia, of course, at that time, was too backward, and Germany still had a long road to go to achieve unification.

ALT WHITE: MAXIMISING, NOT MAINSTREAMING

In my previous article The Dumbest People Ever: the Nazification of Whiteness, I outlined one of the presentational problems for so-called ‘Nationalism': that in certain pockets of the broader white-conscious movement, a perception is often encouraged in the public's mind of rather weird and scary people who are more interested in nostalgia for historic National Socialism, neo-Nazi chic and the memory of an Austrian-born German who shot himself nearly 70 years ago, than in the promotion of white identity and civilisation as something positive and beneficial in society.

The article has attracted a lot of comments on the site. So far almost-all, I am glad to say, are positive about the general message and show an understanding of what I was trying to say: that Nationalists need to find a way of staying true to their core ideals and values while at the same time avoiding the self-inflicted presentational trap of ‘nazification’, which ghettoises us.
