In this brief podcast, Affirmative Right Chief Editor Colin Liddell looks at why a mild-mannered White identitarian site like AltRight.com is now getting the Daily Stormer treatment. He also reflects on his earlier involvement with the site and its failure to escape from the toxicity that the term "Alt-Right" has come to evoke for normies and corporate elites under the astoundingly "brilliant" leadership of Richard Spencer.
They also used readers comments to get it shut down. Which means just about all of these types of sites are dead men walking, since 90% of the commenters are bitter cranks and neo-nazis.
ReplyDeleteAgree on your "alerting enemies" point, but when a pillar of your ideology is racial/ethnic-classification, it's hard to fool anyone who doesn't fit the "racial ideal" that you're NOT actually their enemy.
Race is an important element of identity - always has been and always will be. As such it is not going away. The trick is to deal with it in a healthy and humane way that respects the interests of the groups involved. "Racial ideals" that alienate everyone are obviously retarded. Better to aim at demographic stability.

DeleteYet, I do think that liberalism or progressivism in the classic sense (by that I mean the center-leftism of the 20th century) was infested with the globalist bacillus already from its fetus-like beginnings in the post-french revolution period.
And globalism is plutocratic and anti-democratic, relying on universal human rights and tyrannical supra-national courts to do its dirty work.
This strong anti-nation doctrinaire-element has its roots in capitalist libertarian ideology and must be exorcised as destructively reactionary.
I'm increasingly coming round to your interpretation of nationalism. The problem with leftism, however, is that it doesn't stop where and when you want it to. When leftism was 'pro-white' by the present definition, the white proletariat thought of themselves as the salt of the earth, and were only too happy to rail against the privileges of tradition and heredity. Now they are faced by even saltier brown proletarians laying claim to their lands and daughters, and they are supposed to turn around and appeal to...the privileges of tradition and heredity.

This to my mind comes from its drinking from the teat of its parent bourgeois radicalism, which in the attack upon nobility, church and kingship would hold up the banner of universal rights and abstract liberty (the cult of man).
That is why Socialism must be fully fused with ethno-Nationalism!
Nationalism and Socialism just are the long lost lovers, destined for each other but separated by epic Dickensesque historic drama.
Without Nationalism European Socialism becomes allied, as you say, to the teeming proletarian masses in the global south and so becomes an instrument of our destruction.
While Nationalism without Socialism is vapid and without a necessary positive social mission and without a rooted hard hitting critique of capitalist globalism.
I think Stalinism and Nazism-Hitlerism-Fascism tried to combine Nationalism and Socialism, and drew a lot of energy from it, but ultimately had other (imperial-totalitarian) aims and so it became only a fleeting kiss in the rain for the young lovers.
But in the end their wedding must be, God the cosmic author wills it!

ReplyDeleteToo many on the Alt Right see it the same way from the other side—that other races are necessarily their enemy. And that mindset is a problem, but the racial nationalist is no more inherently hostile to other races than the family is to other families.
I know ethnonationalism is always going to rub some people the wrong way, but I think it would go down a lot better if we were arguing for carving ethnostates out of territories that are already almost entirely white rather than for an empire that stretches 'from Lisbon to Vladivostok.'
Agree entirely on the last paragraph. It's a fundamental point, and also why imo there isn't much difference between SpencerNazis and AmRen. Both are trying to "redefine" a whole empire midway through, deciding who's white, who's a citizen etc and selling that as a possibility.

I think your judgment is wrong here, Colin. They had (and have) no choice but to run with the Nazis and to be as shocking as they can be. Don't forget, the entire Paleocon movement had exactly the same ideas as the Altright - isolationism, anti-interventionism, tariff walls, anti-immigration - and they all failed. In fact, you could easily find anyone in america and ask them about the Paleocons and they would say, "paleowho"?

That's not a problem if you have your own media, as we now do (although a few more Nazi Juggalo rallies might be enough to get it killed off). Rockwell's 'Phase 1 tactics' of using Nazi imagery to troll the media - which were to be followed by a 'Phase 2' of cleaning up the act and becoming a serious political movement - were designed for a pre-internet era in which the mainstream media could destroy anything it chose by blacking it out.

ReplyDeleteOne can achieve "shock value" without resorting to swastikas, Hitler salutes, and other Third Reich memes. Unfortunately, the current "alt-right" leadership lacks either the tactical skill or intelligence (or both) to achieve this goal. Also, it would take sufficient funding, which is also lacking. We need brains, talent, & money to achieve proper and potent "shock value".
True. "It's OK to be White" proved that beyond all doubt. The swastikas btw will cut off most of the funding.
