SHORTPOD (64): PALESTINIANS AS "PROFESSIONAL VICTIMS"

Affirmative Right chief editor Colin Liddell pushes aside the usual narratives on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and asks why this endless crisis never moves to a solution or a decisive outcome. Could it be that the Palestinians, who have one of the highest rates of obesity in the world, simply prefer the convenience and benefits of being seen as "eternal victims" by a sympathetic world?

  2. If your body of work includes sentiment like this, I disrespect your worldview. I won't return to this immoral website.

    1. Your wignat kneejerk reactionism is cute and adorable, like watching a puppy trying to walk.

But my view is not Pro-Israel. I am just describing why this shit goes nowhere, and why the Arabs do nothing substantive to resolve the issue.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Oh, it just did.

    2. Yeah man, just look at the way you responded. I stand apart from you. It's my personal, subjective opinion and incomplete analysis that so many of ours are legit scumbags.

    3. Sorry about the banter. Hope you won't be too many years in therapy because of it.

  3. Why is your position inconsistent with the "popcorn position?" And perhaps the reason the oil-rich kingdoms subsidize the Palestinians and hire South Asian worers is because they realize how much trouble the Palestinians are?

  4. The Western left and right squabbling about Israel seems a lot more farcical than 15-20 years ago. Back then, the West was still vigorous enough that Western interventionism in the Middle East could be plausibly imagined as something which could alter the flow of events there. The idea of the Middle East as a kind of province of Western empire resonated, though it was incorrect. So, whether the neocons got into power mattered, and it made sense for there to be a fight about whether it would be the neocons or someone else at the helm. It made sense for pro-Palestinian campus activists to make as much noise as possible and suppose that this noise would radiate to Washington and to Israel. It didn't go that way, but it was rational to suppose it would, given that the West was still vigorous, was at the apex of its post Cold War confidence. Today by contrast it's clear that there's absolutely nothing the West can or will do to alter the dynamic between Israel and the Palestinians. Ilhan Omar could be President of the United States and Rashida Tlaib Speaker of the House, and it would not alter Israel's policies in any way. Israel would call Weimerica's bluff: "OK, if you want control of the situation, then send your troops here! Be imperialists." And late-stage progressivism can't handle the idea of ruling a boots-on-ground imperium, so of course nothing would come of it. "President Omar" would quickly change the subject to domestic "racism in Vermont" or "transphobia in San Francisco". Everyone actually *knows* this, that it no longer matters what anybody in Western countries thinks about Israel, and yet the Protest Grift is triggered anyway.

  5. The Palestinians doomed themselves when they decided ally with the Western left. They decided their primary friendship should be with the US college campus white female looking for a cause-celebre as a proxy in her personal conflict with her own father. Whereas, instead they could have tried to become friends with the father.

  6. The arabs are no doubt too fat, weak and anarchic to fight Israel.

BUT most of Islam is non-arab and views this pathetic fraternal jew-arab conflict in hysteric pious islamic terms.

I gather the Turks, primarily, would like to do something radical about this whole thing.
